DC'S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW
"Raiders of the Lost Art" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)
LOST MEMORIES - When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to "time drift" and is just a graduate film student. After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team. Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Chris Fedak (#209). Original airdate 1/24/2017.

Do they have to get George Lucas' permission to use his name and likeness?
I did love all the star wars nods. I may have missed some but the "you are out only hope" and the trash compactor ones stuck out most.

I love how hard they leaned into the George Lucas stuff.
And referencing that they got the "Legion of Doom" name from Super Friends is awesome

I when the group was about to be crushed to death and they pushed & finally inspired George Lucas to realize he wants to direct. Then Nate turned back into Steel and Ray got his atom suit back.
Nice little shout outs to Lucas' work.
Fun and offbeat and a little campy, but a solid Legends episode nevertheless.
So Rip didn't actually get his memory in that last sequence? He was just faking?

I was also wondering if they had to get permission to name drop a Marvel character (Howard the Duck).
So I liked this episode a lot. It had a lot of fun nods in it and one of the episodes that is probably the most quotable.
-George Lucas as insurance salesman of the year in 1977, 1980 and 1983.
-All the Star Wars references.
-Stein nonchalantly stating that he is performing brain surgery.
-The Legion of Doom name coming from a cartoon.
Seems like LOT has been the best show by far this year. Flash is most consistent, Arrow is improving and Supergirl is a mess. Actually I kind of wish Supergirl was on Legends I think she would be a good fit.

A fun, campy episode but I can't say as I'm thrilled with the return of Rip Hunter. On the other hand Merlyn and Darhk can team up all day long as far as I'm concerned. I didn't care for either character all that much on Arrow but let them finally have some fun and they're gold.

I thought some of the stuff with Lucas was a little too cute. Darvill was back in the credits so he's probably here for the rest of the season.

The weird thing about the Legion of Doom is that it is from the Challenge of the Super Friends which featured people they know, Flash & Hawkman.

The Lucas stuff ended up making an episode that included Rip more fun that it deserved to be. But they should at least had some kind of large rat startle the guys in the garbage compactor.

Fun episode. Loved the dig at Howard the Duck
Funny how the name of this episode had nearly nothing to do with it, but was more Star Wars.

This show has surpassed all of our other DC shows that we watch. We dumped Supergirl in the middle of the first season and we tried to start back this season and found we still disliked it. Never cared for Arrow and Flash is now a chore to watch. I can't seem to make my wife or kid want to pick The Flash back up in the middle of this season and I am having a hard time pushing for it.
All that being said, we almost dumped this show at the beginning of this season since it was kinda lame most of its first season. But the writers seem to have hit their stride and the actors come across as having a blast with the campiness of it all.
Glad we stuck with it even though my kid doesn't get half the in-jokes that this show throws around.
