Hot on Flynn's trail, Lucy (Abigail Spencer), Wyatt (Matt Lanter) and Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) enlist the help of an iconic Marshal to help bring the fugitives to justice. Also starring Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit. Guest starring Annie Wersching, Colman Domingo and Zahn McClarnon. TV-PG D, L, V

Episode 12 of 16

Eric Kripke, Timeless' co-creator and co-showrunner, posted this on Twitter a few days ago.

He's pleading for more people to watch live. The live ratings aren't very good and will ultimately decide the show's fate.

My girl Annie Wersching joining the cast!

I'll watch it live (ok, maybe with a 10 minute DVR delay), just to support their cause. Though I don't have a Nielsen box, so I don't think my "live" view does anything.

Yeah, I don't understand his request. Watch live, but if you don't have a Nielsen box you don't count!

This is why I'm so fed up with these companies following 1960s methods to track viewership in the 21st century.

I've always assumed companies like Comcast are keeping track of everything you view through their X1 platform. How else do they get all this DVR viewing data?

Yeah if you're not a Nielsen family member and don't know anyone who is, there is really nothing you can do to help.

Nielsen is such a fucking archaic system for tracking viewership. I don't understand how they can't figure out a more accurate way to see who is watching, especially now in 2017. I mean aren't people downloading Timeless episodes on demand, watching it on the NBC app? Doesn't that count? Those have ads.

We all know DVRs and Internet streaming have caused a massive decline in live viewing across the board. Timeless is no exception.

I doubt it helps, but I've been trying to make it a point of playing episodes of shows through VOD or their ape after I've watched them. I don't rewatch them, but rather put them on in he background while doing other stuff.

I wonder if this really helps because I have been doing the same think since the first season of Chuck.

And it goes way beyond just the Nielsen system. I know very few people that watch anything live anymore other than sports. And in many cases, not even sports if their personal schedules do not allow it. If you have the option, it really makes no sense not to record something now. Even if it means just starting a recording 20 minutes after it has started so you can skip any commercials.

Some of the streaming apps send your info to Nielson as well. I'm pretty sure the Xfinity TV app does.

Anyways, the show is pretty good, but Travelers was much better.

I also do stuff like with a few shows that I like that don't get huge live ratings. Nielson does track numbers/stats from Hulu. I watch Timeless live and then I stream it on Hulu at some point the next day. Sometimes i don't really rewatch the episodes either, it's just background noise as I work or do something around the house. I agree with others, there needs to be a better system for tracking TV viewings or ratings.

Re: Timeless (S1E12) -- "The Murder of Jesse James" -- 1/23/17

One of the best episodes to date! This episode actually had a lot of elements that the season has been missing too. Just a few quick things before bed:

- Mason picked a side (boo!)
- Mason threatens menisfully
- Major twist with the cabin in the woods!!!!
- Lucy
- Wyatt's proposal/plea to Rufus

Glad they spent some more time in the present. Needed more to reinforce that Lucy was fighting for her sister, and that Wyatt misses his wife. Plus training back at Mason gives us a B plot away from the past and fleshed out the rest of the great cast.

Not many scenes with Annie Wersching, but at least she'll have a story arc. Hell yea! Very interesting arc as well.

HD of the canyons and snow looked great.

Loving this show. Great character development. I like how the writers kept Lucy mostly quiet during the episode since her mind was elsewhere.

I noticed how when she was staring into the painting that is very closely mimicked her staring into the mirror in the episode where they visited the German castle!

Also, nice callback to Rufus' actions at NASA.

Didn't know the Lone Ranger was based on a black man. Cool.

I enjoy the show and I hope it survives. Tonight's episode was a good one with some good progress in the story.

I sometimes wish each jump back in time lasted for 2-3 episodes. I liked the guy that played Jesse James and it's a shame he won't be seen more.

Re: Timeless (S1E12) -- "The Murder of Jesse James" -- 1/23/17

I remember Lance Henriksen in an interview making a similar plea about Millennium back in 1999. He said he knew the show had a large fan base, but needed more viewers to watch it as it airs. It didn't make any sense then and it doesn't make any sense now. As noted, if you are not a "Chosen One" you don't get a vote.

I think the writers will eventually go full serial with each season, sort of like Grimm.

This is my favorite show and I always watch it live, but it makes no difference because I'm not a part of the Nielsen ratings. I just look forward to it so much that I watch it as soon as I can!

Re: Timeless (S1E12) -- "The Murder of Jesse James" -- 1/23/17

Watched live last night and via OnDemand today.

I wish they'd spent more time at the end dealing with Lucy's decision. Her decision wasn't even explained/justified, nor was her well being addressed. I think she may have shaped and decided to err on the side of history in an attempt to put things back together and save her sister too?

Something obviously happens, or happened (we haven't even touched on the concept of multiple timelines), tonhave Lucy keep a diary that Flynn is using. It also begs the question if she gave it to him to use so he can influence the timeline, or if he somehow took it from her.

Surprised they didn't have Lucy say:
Spoiler:
"I shot Jessie James."

Re: Timeless (S1E12) -- "The Murder of Jesse James" -- 1/23/17

That was a pretty fun episode.

Nice to see Colman Domingo (Strand from Fear the Walking Dead) as Black Lone Ranger.

Good to see Annie Wersching again.

They do a really good job with the set and costume designs on this show. This episode was just as well done.
