Zsa Zsa Gabor Passes Away at Age 99

2016 has claimed another. :rip:

Wasn't sure if TV/Movie Talk was the best place for this.

She's been so I'll and likely not consious for at least the past 5-10 years. It was time to let her go. RIP

She was like a 1950'-60's version of the Kardashian's. I remember when I was four, she was promoting some line of cologne, jewelery, or other crap and was making appearances at various Montgomery Wards department stores. My mom wanted to see her so she and my dad took the whole family. All I remember was it so crowded and I never understood at the age who she was or why peole were so frantic and screaming to see her. I still don't.

RIP

Granted Zsa Zsa was 99 and living on borrowed time after being in really poor health and having a limb amputated.

She was very charismatic in the times I watched her on TV.

I've always loved her brief cameo in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Dick Cavett only agreed to appear in the movie because he wanted to see Zsa Zsa killed by Freddy Krueger.

Isn't Debbie Reynolds still around? Figured she would be on there.

I've got a fairly significant update planned for the 2017 version of the card. I'm adding in folks to fill the new vacancies (Mary Tyler Moore and Richard Adams - I hope both they live long enough to make it onto the card - plus Desmond Tutu, Bob Dole, Fats Domino, Stan Lee, Stephen Hawking and Glen Campbell, etc); I'm taking a few folks off the card (Don Rickles, Barbara Bush, Bill Cosby, Bob Barker and a couple of others); and I'm rearranging everyone to put those who are most likely to go on the diagonals, since there are three ways to make a BINGO through those spaces instead of just two.

By the time I came of age, she was one of the first people that seemed like she was famous for being a celebrity without any significant talent. She would pop up on shows mostly as herself as a guest. There seemed to be a huge market for celebrity cameos on television and in the movies back in the 70s and 80s.

When asked if she was a good housekeeper, she had a quick reply. Zsa Zsa Gabor answered "Yes, I am a good housekeeper. Whenever I divorce someone, I keep his house."

Abe Vigoda should get the honorary center square.

If anyone were in the center square as an honor, it would be Paul Lynde.

I've got Amy Winehouse there because her lifestyle telegraphed her pending death so far in advance that she was effectively a freebie even when she was alive. Having her there is absolutely not intended as an honor... it's the opposite.

I've always wondered why they've never attempted to bring Hollywood Squares back. There have to be hundreds of unemployed actors hanging around Hollywood at any one time.

If ABC keeps doing retro game shows in the summer that will probably be back at some point.

This can't be anything but a celebration of life, 99 sheesh

I really only remember her for her cameo in Nightmare on Elm street 3, Dream Warriors

I too remember being a kid in the 60's asking my parents who she was and why she was famous. Because she showed up everywhere for no particular reason. She is the blueprint that people like Kim Kardashian follow. Get married, get divorced, get in trouble with the law, get appearances on TV shows just because you had an appearance on a TV show.

Yup, Abe Vigoda died on January 26, 2016. It just shows you how skilled the year 2016 is in taking out celebrities. Any other year couldn't even get close to him.

I don't know how I missed this. I really liked him.

It was the 70's for me but your post is spot-on.

She showed up on Scooby-Doo at one point. The woman was everywhere back in the day.
