Oh shit, I thought this was late Feb for some reason. So Altered Carbon and Strike Back in same day? Sweet!

FYI the DirecTV guide is showing this as having aired in 2017, which it did in the UK. Make sure you compensate for that, as it may not pick them up as new.

Not expecting anywhere near the chemistry and humor that Stapleton and Winchester had.
But, if they make up for it with badass action and an occasional hot naked babe, then cool beans.
I do wonder if they will make any references to Scott and Stonebridge.
On a side note, the lead director of the series Michael J. Bassett who's been with the show since the beginning came out as transexual last year. He directed several episodes this season. He's now MJ Bassett and you can find pictures of his change on Instagram. Very bizarre situation with him. But, glad he found peace with his choice.

In the UK they started showing the 2nd half of the season this month. It went on hiatus back in Nov.

So this is what I gather after episode 1:
Wyatt= Scott -- and hilarious that the actor is Austrlian playing an American like Stapleton was. Plus he got to bang the random ass hot chick. That actor has a very Hugh Jackman vibe.
McAllister=Stonebridge
Reynolds= Richmond
Some really good action in the 1st episode. Too early to judge chemistry yet. I did think they were trying a little too hard to force chemistry between Wyatt and McAllister.
and hot damn, Reynolds in that night club. I did think it's funny that she's probably like 5-4, 110 pounds and she's taking on 220+ lb terrorists in a tight miniskirt and doing leg locks.

Saw the first ep a while back when it was first, um, "released".
Fucking terrible!
Generic, boring, dull, cliche, cheap - all the qualities of the worst action TV/movies - they shouldn't call it Strikeback - maybe Shitback? I honestly can't overstate how bad it was.

You basically described the start of the 2nd season of Strikeback when the whole show was revamped.

Maybe, if the 2nd season had less than half it's budget, and had a cast of actors with zero charisma.

I fell asleep watching it which has never happened before with Strike Back but I've enjoyed this show so much over the years that I'll muddle through and hope it gets better.

Wow, tough crowd. It appears the opinions on this new season are very mixed.
I checked out the Cinemax Facebook page and the opinions there are also very mixed.
http://uproxx.com/sepinwall/strike-back-review-cinemax/
Alan Sepinwall has seen the first 6 episodes and he didn’t hate it like a few here have stated. He states some positives, but didn’t exactly give it a glowing recommendation. He says the plot feels a little thinner and more formulaic. See the above link to read his comments.
Also, the show has never had a big budget. It’s always had the production value of a direct to video action movie. So I personally didn’t see downgrades in the production values. It’s Cinemax after all.

This wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. I don't know why in the hell they felt compelled to basically create clones of Scott and Stonebridge from the main show. Think outside the box a little.

Roxanne McKee was on Dominion a few years ago on SyFy and yeah she's smoking hot. But, a little too hot to be a trained military captain. She's very petite. Some people bitched on the Facebook page why that had a hot chick who looked like a supermodel be trained military personnel.

Re: Strike Back (Cinemax) -- Season 5 Thread -- Premieres 2/2/18
Is the Cinemax version of each episode different to the Sky One version ? Maybe a bit longer ?
i don't know why they cast a 'short ass', i just can't see this guy as a main lead. The other guy is a bit better
The females show potential

Yes, you can watch it that way. I believed it allows you to watch the show on demand and also has a live stream if I’m not mistaken of Cinemax as well.

So the big terrorist baddie Idrisi is now dead -- Red Herring villain.
Big American Arms dealer teased at the end of episode 1 is now injured and captured -- Red Herring villain.
So the radicalized British wife is now the baddie? Hopefully they have something really interesting planned, because I'm not Wow'd by her as being some kind evil mastermind. Strike Back has had some cool twists with their villains in the past, so it's wait and see I guess. And the tease for next week that she's leading some kind White Power group...
and how stupid was Reynolds to fall for that fake choking act? She should have punched the bitch.
Episode 2 felt very by the numbers. It was fine as a generic action set piece with some shootouts, but nothing was really memorable.
I miss Winchester and Stapleton's banter and the humor they had between them.

So the dipshit arms dealer sells them the very weapons that take down his mode of transportation? Hahahahah
He sucks at his job.
If that we're truly a bunker buster, that place would have been demolished and they both would have been dead.
