The last episode that aired 2 weeks ago had huge ratings gains in live + 3 via DVR and on demand. It went up against the World Series, so not surprised most of the male viewers delayed watching it.

Really? This show is starting to wear thing for me. It's playing to all the 24 tropes, but on another network.

Plot involving mole. Check.
Secure prisoner mysteriously dies. Check.
Fake drama with kids. Check.

The son plot was the least enjoyable of the pilot, so I'm glad that is gone. However, I think there was an opportunity to mine the impacts of such a drastic change on the family. The divide between Kirkman and his wife was a facet of that, except there was not enough setup so the payoff wasn't great.

This show does best for me when it's characters sitting down to have a conversation about the untenable situation everybody is in. The issue with the Florida governor was actually illuminating and a good social commentary on current events. I think that's something the show could do more of if the writers can take the time to craft balanced discussions.

Meanwhile, the espionage angle just isn't working. And this whole VP angle is so dumb. "Oh, I did my own research in a day. The guy is good to go."

Btw, they could have swapped out the Arizona governor for the Virginia Masden character. Same delivery and vitriol.
