Rhona isn't even American. She's British. Now you're really stretching it.

Wasn't she Canadian?

Sure she is. Canada is part of North America

Probably close enough to what Ash is looking for, in any case.

No mention of Heroes? I know the last few seasons were terrible, but I always thought Hiro (Masi Oka) was one of the best parts of the show.

Oh wait, rereading the OP they have to be playing an Asian American character? He was definitely playing a Japanese character.

Also Agents of Shield has Skye/Daisy, played by Chloe Bennet (she changed her name from Wang), and Ming Na Wen, who seemingly doesn't age. They're arguably the two toughest characters on the team.

And I'm sure Ash already knows this, but various seasons of Power Rangers, including the most recent one.

Ah, also Dean Cain in Lois and Clark:The New Adventures of Superman.

And with the Superman connection, isn't Kristin Kruek a detective or something in Beauty and the Beast? I've never actually watched the show.

The criteria was Asian American leads, playing Asian American crime fighters.

Chloe Bennett works because her character Daisy Johnson is half Asian on the show.

Superman is not Asian American, so that's a no to Dean Cain even though he's half Asian.

Yes, Kreuk's character on Beauty and the Beast was Asian American, but Kreuk herself is Canadian.

Not a crime-fighter, but Vincent Rodriguez III has a lead role on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

James Hiroyuki Liao played a member of the major crimes squad on Unforgettable for 3 seasons until it was cancelled.

Re: Question about TV shows with Asian-American leads...

Maybe stretching the criteria just a bit, but wouldn't Into the Badlands qualify?

Daniel Wu as Sunny is not just a main character...he plays the main character.

And it's been renewed for a second season.

Have you checked out Netflix's Marco Polo? Nearly all of the cast is Asian or of Asian descent.

I know it's supposed to be history-based, but some of the martial arts stuff & swordplay is pretty dang super-heroic, only not in tights.

Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther 1:15-16

Well, she did come here when she was still a little kid and raised in N.Y. So, she's pretty much American.

So, even though I came here when I was one and have been here for fifty years I'm still not American? Sorry, but I don't know how to be anything else.

Re: Question about TV shows with Asian-American leads...

Anthony Ruivivar may count. Wiki says his father is of Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish descent. And he has played several crime fighting characters. I've not watched all the roles, so am not sure if any of them are meant to be Asian-American or not.

I found this bit on wiki that would probably be helpful https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_...ent#Television

Several people not yet brought up, I don't think, like Sendhil Ramamurthy for Covert Affairs, Arden Cho for Teen Wolf, Daniel Henney for Criminal Minds, Reiko Aylesworth for 24, Ian Anthony Dale for The Event & Murder in the First.

If this was indeed the case, then I would be technically a German from being "raised" in West Berlin, West Germany. Though I don't speak German at all.

(As an aside).

The infamous American gangster Charles "Lucky" Luciano thought the same thing, until he was deported back to his native Italy in 1946. (His family moved to America when he was age 9).

Was he a U.S. citizen? I guess if you only have a green card or illegal you can be deported. Where the laws different back then?

According to Ash's original post, which apparently most of you guys aren't reading:

Do you even watch Longmire? LDP's character is American Indian and owns a bar.

I stand corrected and I do watch the show. He does play a masked vigilante on the show.
