Best episode of the series? Possibly. Probably.
Need some time to process, but damn I am already impatient for the next season.
Nice twists and turns!

Zach...ugh. Will a book reader tell me he dies a horrible death?
Liked the episode (and the season), but I had to roll my eyes when Fet, Dutch, Abraham survived that nuclear blast. They were well within the death radius of it.
Looking forward to seeing how it all ends next year.

I would love to know from the show's "Creative Staff" how they feel we should view Zack at this point. Do they expect us to feel anything like sympathy for him or did they intend to paint him as a serious villain, -essentially irredeemable and deserving only a violent death. He's been an annoying character throughout (I expect that was unintentional), but now he must die.

Shit, By this time in the books 2/3rd's or our primary cast was already dead. I really like what they did with Palmer's character. In the book The Master
Quinlan pulling those moves was awesome - even when he went up against The Master there you thought he was going to go in for some fancy moves but nope - he just put him in the box.
I also have no memory of what happens to Zach in the novel. Yeah, he's a twat of a character on the show and I am positive the showrunners do think that we all hate him. There's no doubt.
I also don't care that the EMP or even the flashpoint would have killed or blinded everyone in the blast radius. That was just fucking dope, because they went for it.
No Gus this week, so he'll be back for the final season. Damn, one more year to wait for The Night Eternal.

Seriously though, I did like that scene and totally bought his reaction. The effects of the blast were another story ... Did nobody else have an issue with the first nuke last week though? It was more like a bundle of dynamite.

You guys are kidding me, right? I think he is my new favorite character! That whiny little pussy Carl would have just disappeared with a 5 lb. can of chocolate pudding. Not Zach, nope. Give that kid a button, murder his (hot) blood-sucking mother in front of him, and watch him fucking nuke New York! Ambitious little shit. I like the cut of his gib!

It detonated downward and gobbled up the buildings that collapsed. I'll allow it.

Well, I'm not a nuclear physicist, I don't play one on TV, and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night ... But it's a nuke, not a claymore. I could be wrong.
(Cue the "but ... but ... but vampires!" response. It's the right answer; I got nothin'. )

I honestly don't know if I would have stuck with the series if I knew that little shit was going to be this important at the end. Seriously, if I saw the actor on the street I'd feel a little urge to smack the shit out of him.

I presumed he was going to become the Master, hence his "importance". I really like that they went there with Zach ... Where shows like this (and Walking Dead) fail with child characters is in trying to give them adult reactions and motivations while retaining their childhood instincts and traits. The writers often fail in writing the character.
This worked ... The petulant child had a childish reaction. He knew it was a detonator for a bomb ... He had no idea where the bomb was at or what kind of bomb it was, but he knew enough to respond to an act he viewed as the most personal form of violence with reckless violence.

So what's the group gonna do underground? They still need food, water, and oxygen.

I also had to turn on the CC when Setrakian used the word occultation. Guess it's time for a word a day calendar for me.
And OT - I named one of my cats Strigoi - he's a black cat naturally.

Typical mommy's boy. Set off the nuke because his dad fought for his life. Moments ago kiddo was fearing mom himself. Uh, let's go upstairs and check on the master, mom. I've learned to hate this show.

Ole slick Tommy Eichorst showing the kid the bomb control.

Eichorst seems to genuinely like Zach, though perhaps it's only because he sees a fellow evil spirit.
I assume NYC is being rounded up for the blood banks.

Other than the nuke ridiculousness, and the Master slipping away so easily in the process, it was a very fun finale. I've read rumors about a time jump and now it makes sense. I certainly don't want to watch multiple episodes of these people just having to deal with the fallout from the nuke. Let's get to the point where they can start taking back the globe from the munchers.
