In 1969, while a cultural revolution with a soundtrack to match swept through the free world, there was still one place that refused to change with the times: newsrooms. Good Girls Revolt follows a group of young female researchers, Jane Hollander (Anna Camp), Patti Robinson (Genevieve Angelson), Cindy Reston (Erin Darke), at "News of the Week," who simply ask to be treated fairly. Their revolutionary request, led by lawyer Eleanor Holmes Norton (Joy Bryant) will spark convulsive changes and upend marriages, careers, sex lives, love lives, and friendships. The pilot is inspired by the landmark sexual discrimination cases chronicled in Lynn Povich's book, The Good Girls Revolt.

The series debuted Oct. 28 to mostly positive reviews (it has a 65 on Metacritic) and four and a half stars on Amazon. It was part of a freshman class that included previously renewed One Mississippi as well as Goliath, which Amazon boasted ranked as its "top binged first season of a U.S.-produced Amazon original series ever over its first 10 days." The streamer, like Netflix, does not release official ratings data for its streaming originals.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that ABC, Freeform, USA Network, Bravo and Hulu are in the running to pick up the Dana Calvo-created drama for a second season, with Netflix and Lifetime both considered longshots. Sony Pictures Television declined comment.

Good Girls Revolt had been canceled by discarded Amazon boss Roy Price. So when he recently was axed in the wake of accusations of sexual harassment toward a female producer, Good Girls Revolt started trending on social media. Series’ creator Dana Calvo and its stars were interviewed for stories, and a grassroots movement started to revive the show.

Because Good Girls Revolt was canceled so long ago, the studio doesn’t have deals with the cast. But they all have been active on social media, tweeting in support of the show and expressing desire to come back, so the actors are expected to rejoin if the show is resurrected.

I hear the networks that will be pitched on Good Girls Revolt will include Amazon, which was the show’s original home. The streaming service now has a new head of scripted series, Sharon Tal Yguado, who succeeded Price.
