Re: The Walking Dead (S7E01) -- "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" -- 10/23/16

For some reason, when Rick drives away in the RV towards the end and looks out the rear view mirror to see the zombie get on the ground and start eating Glenns guts was almost as disturbing as seeing Glenn get Lucilled.

So, the ring that was in the the pile of blood and guts that is shown at the end of the preview was Abe's?

Also, here's the one thing about this episode the bugged me. In between the 1st & 2nd hit, Abe tells Negan 'suck my nuts'. Why didn't we hear that during the season finale? Only explanation is that it was Abe's POV and maybe he went deaf after the 1st hit?

300+ replies!

What's the most recent post here with more replies?

Edit:

I did a quick check, I LOL'ed seeing all the threads for EACH Lost episode having hundreds of replies. And of course de series finale episode with more than 1K replies.

But the thread for this episode may be the one with more replies in the last... couple of years?

Lost was a totally different show. It was a mystery and the majority of posts were people stating their theories and shit. has nothing to do with the popularity.

Negan's men tried to rob them. They responded with a rocket launcher barbecue. Yeah, yeah, we'll call it even-Stevens.

So I take it you're one of those viewers that thinks people should just give in to anybody that demands something in this TWD universe.

I get all that, but what works for one medium (a black and white ink drawing) doesn't mean it will work in another (with a living breathing human being) or something like that.

I forgot about that one, I don't remember it being that graphic, but you're right on one aspect, we had no emotiontial tie to that character which changes the way we perceive the death.

Absolutely not. I'm saying the escalation was started by the "hero" group. I'm saying, as I have said for some time, our POV characters - our heroes - are not good guys either. They act with the same self-serving motivations The Governor and Negan have. I have trouble liking them just because they are the main characters and I should blindly like them. They have placed plenty of unreasonable demands on other groups and steamrolled their way over those groups. Every time they have found friendlies or found a home, their own recklessness and foolishness have destroyed it.

People are questioning how Negan has followers, I question how Rick has followers.

Well, in this particular story line I would say they were. At that point they seemed to be happy to leave everybody else alone, short of those that joined their group willingly, and stay in Alexandria (short of doing supply runs like everybody else, which is where the Negan army confronted them, not the other way around).

I'll admit my memory is a bit fuzzy because I did lose some of my interest last season ... They have caused the death of almost everybody in Alexandria (I believe Rick said they would take Alexandria by force if needed, and that was in one of his less psychotic moment).

Did you miss the "deal" with the Hilltop? You know, the deal where they agreed to be their muscle but demanded "half their shit." Sound familiar?

American Horror Story has some gratuitous skull bashing this week. I wonder if the scenes are an homage to The Walking Dead.

Ah, Lost theories. Maybe Rick is still in the hospital and all this is happening in his head.

I think where they are headed is Rick's group being the full on evil ones when they meet the FotWD group from the West Coast.

I think the visceral deaths in this episode were needed (and done very well). I applaud all involved for airing it. The walking dead have become their daily job to kill while the real threats are the walking living.

I wouldn't agree with caused given the issue at hand was the Wolves, and Rick's group was right about them. But that is a different discussion for different day since it has nothing to do with Negan.

Did you miss the "deal" with the Hilltop?
Of course I didn't. And unless you are going to claim the people at Hilltop were lying to them, they had every reason to believe their group would be next should Negan's army ever find them.

We're probably at agree to the disagree point since it seems you are one of those viewers that wants Rick's group to take everything others want to do to them, because by some twisted logic, that is what "good guys" do.

Ditto. For me the scene that was most questionable (but still should have been included IMO for the same reasons) was at the end when the walker started munching on what was left of Glen. Felt that more than what they showed during both deaths.

So many wasted posts. Didn't those poor souls know it was always about the relationships?

What's familiar about that? It was exactly what you said it was. A deal. Big difference between "give me half your shit or die".

Beyond that it was also a deal made to be mutually beneficial. They needed experienced fighters/ammo and Rick's group needed supplies. And was it really 50%? Don't remember if there was talk of percentages or just what they agreed to share from that point going forward.

BTW didn't some of that group actually join them in the fight against Negan after all that? If that doesn't prove it's a completely different scenario I don't what would.

Abraham's secret goodbye to Sasha hit me more in the feels than Glenn/Maggie.

Why didn't they load up Glenn and Abraham's corpses into the RV for burial? Alexandria already has a cemetery (now well-stocked) for them to use.

I'd approve of an ending like that. He wakes up and Daryl is his nurse and Negan is his doctor. "And you and you and you and you were there!"
