Curious if viewership will drop after the premiere. My wife couldn't make it through the show tonight. It was just too over the top. I finally got her back downstairs and they started the Carl part and she noped right out again.

Yeah, this felt more like torture porn.
With The Governor, he was a bastard, but you could believe people would follow him. I don't quite buy that with Negan--one of his own guys would have just taken the pyscho out.

No fucking way is this show "utterly brilliant". It is one of the most overhyped shows that general audiences thinks is "the best show ever'... just like SOA.
One of the most stupid things I've now ever seen a show do is make its viewers think a character died... drag it out... then show it was a fake out. Then have a season finale where they don't show another death. And then have that death be the same character they previously did a fake out with.

Of those that are "done with this show", have any of you read the comics? This story thread in particular? I think they would be at risk of losing viewers had they not shown the brutality of Negan. This was an out of nowhere shocking event in the comics.

I know dude - I was well aware with what happens in the comics. But the drawn out brutality, torture, misery.... I've read the comics, watched every episode since day one.
But this episode crosses the line for me.

Still a surprise to me on the second (or additional, I should say) death even if teased or whatnot. These episodes just float thru my brain anyway. Massive fan service tonight, but I liked. Nicotero ramped it up
