Surely he might find a couple of psychos, but that many? And if he does that with all the groups he has, every single person would be gunning for him.

One of the most stupid things I've now ever seen a show do is make its viewers think a character died... drag it out... then show it was a fake out. Then have a season finale where they don't show another death. And then have that death be the same character they previously did a fake out with.
To make people feel the way they do right now. To be devastated, to be tortured, to quit the fucking show, whether serious or not, makes it brilliant.

What was with the "extra" kills we saw? Was that just Rick imagining what could have happened?

Yup. And they probably shot a death for everyone to try and help keep the deaths from leaking. So they just used the footage as the way you described.

I think the "Glenn fake-out death" scene from last season was to make us think he was invincible & surprise us when it came time for Negan's kill.
A lot of you seem to be complaining & I don't get it. I thought the show delivered with some of the most brutal deaths of core characters I have seen on TV & think it was worth the wait.

I don't get at this point why Negan would keep any of them alive.

Sorry dex, but it is brilliant in its execution, its writing, its acting, its direction. The sheer emotion it's caused and galvanizing thoughts that are going to reverberate for so long. It takes your breath away and makes your heart ache. It's brilliant.

Negan told him to "think about what could happen" if he doesn't follow his orders. That's when Rick imagined Negan killing the rest of them.

Awful. And it oddly dragged. And the lesson learned is not to connect with the characters as they're doomed anyway.
Spoiler:
Last year's "death" of Glenn was more shocking. I really wish they kept with that.

Sure, you're entitled to your opinion.it isn't brilliant to show raw graphic violence to evoke emotion. That is the normal reaction of any person who isn't a psychopath.

The writing on the show has been inconsistent at best. Year after year they have a few decent episodes with stuff that gets dragged out to a fault.

And some people here actually complained that Arrow on the CW was a joyless show

OMG, 2 for the price of 1.

JDM owned it tonight. Total psychopath. Very over the top with the brutality. Those images are going to be really difficult to get out of my head.

Feel bad for Maggie.

Re: The Walking Dead (S7E01) -- "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be" -- 10/23/16

So there was a scene I didn't really understand. After Daryl punches Negan, Dwight has the crossbow aimed at his head & asks Negan 'You want me to do it, right here"? Negan says "No, you don't kill them, not until you try a little". Did anyone follow that?

Man, that was some fucked-up shit.

It was shocking when it went down in the comics, and they really ramped it up to ten here with the extra death (courtesy of Darryl) and the bit with Carl.

Remember, a while back, when some us were joking around about "Lucille" and what she was going to do and who was going to play her? Now you're all caught up.

The remembering Glenn segment on Talking Dead was tough to take.

Yeah... not going to watch this right before bed. Based on the comic, I knew this was going to be one of the most disturbing episodes of the series, so I went ahead and spoiled it for myself. That way I at least knew what I would be in for.
