Another great episode. Gonna miss having Flockhart as a regular. Best live-action Superman since Reeves, easily. Watching Supergirl, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Supergirl's hot adopted sister take on Metallos (with Mon-El in a coma) is totally making my 14 year old self reading Crisis On Infinite Earths in 1985 go bugfuck.
I could watch Chyler Leigh read the phone book for an hour every week.

There seems to be very little difference between Supergirl and Superman aside from gender in this iteration. Was Supergirl always following Superman footsteps in pretty much every aspect of both parts of her life?

I hate how writers make Kryptonians weaker by dumbing them down. If you need to keep yourself away from a poison (Kryptonite) shoot the bad guy with your eye beams rather than engage them in hand to hand combat.

These first two episodes of the season have been fantastic. It's like Supergirl got a whole new writing staff once they ditched CBS. I'm guessing CBS heavily interfered with Supergirl. I have the feeling if these two episodes had aired last year as the pilot, it would still be on CBS today. Ratings would have remained higher with episodes like these past two.
Call me crazy as a Superman purist but I am starting to dig this costume with the unusual cape design. I think Superman's cape and costume here look better than Cavill's movie costume. My only gripe is that the yellow 'S' symbol isn't on the back of his cape, but I realize that hasn't been there even in the comics of late.
I wonder what they do with Cat Grant going forward. She's been an asset to this show, though Snapper Carr introduces a completely new dynamic that might be interesting for Kara.
I worried they would nuke Superman's character but those fears have been put to rest. They did a great job with both Clark and Superman.

yeah I'm not sure why you would jump up on the top of a car to point blank face someone's who main weapon is firing a beam out of his chest at you. Yet then again maybe if one is normally all powerful you can't really get out of the mind set or something.
I mean I'm sure the reason is it "looks good on tv" but still.
I like Supergirl's news boss now. Being I only know him as "Andy" from Cougar Town so it's interesting to see him in a different sort of role.
I don't really remember, maybe it was just dark but was the battle suit Alex wore near the end of last season as low renting looking as it is this season? I get they can't do Ironman or pure CGI due to budget issues, but still.
That looks like a few springs, a couple of glow sticks and done..

They should be a little more careful in the fighting choreography. Alex takes a direct punch to the face from Metallo, which should kill her unprotected human head. They also had Supergirl punching out a regular human agent this episode.
A punch from Supergirl would kill any normal human.

Good start to the season. Kara's new boss makes no sense. His boss hired someone. Not sure how you say no.
Thought exactly the same thing when I saw that. Her head was not protected. Same with the guy Supergirl hit.

I much prefer this "Superman" costume to the film version, -I just can't stand that "bubbled" texture they use (or at least how they shoot it).
You can make an excuse for "Supergirl" pulling her punches when hitting a human, since its been a trope of the Comics and TV/Movie versions that "Superman" hit humans frequently and didn't kill them. I think you just have to give them license on that. Alex being protected by the suit is a stretch, though.
I'll be curious how James's promotion will develop into his upcoming "side-job" as The Guardian.

Goddammit Smallville, why couldnt you be this cool. Though I still twitch at the leather straps/brass clasps on Supes cape. Also what was protecting Alex's wrists throwing those blows?

I've seen some people mention they think the punches by Supergirl may have been an homage to the George Reeves' series, where he would regularly punch villains.
Comic book readers may put two and two together foreshadowing future developments about the other famous death in Crisis on Infinite Earths...

Did Hank really give up all the kryptonite? I don't think he did....

Clark: "I'll have the article for you in a jiffy Mr. White"
"Jiffy? It's a unit of measurement sir"
Great episode. Season is 2 for 2. Going to miss Superman, but this show does need to stand on it's own without him. I read they are working on trying to get Hoechlin again for a future episode. I'm going to bet they'll bring him back for a big sweeps episode.
I really liked the moment between Cat and Kara in this episode. They seemed to have really bonded and she isn't the uptight bitch now that she was most of the 1st season. She's really pushing Kara to be better.

The big crossover will be on The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. Supergirl will be on all 3 shows. It's a 3-part event.

I thought it was odd seeing Snapper Carr like this. From what I remember he wasn't an asshole when he was hanging out with the JLA or even after they kicked him out. I'm referring to the 70's version.

I didn't care for Snapper Carr. Not a fan of the plot device "I'm a complete asshole but everyone tolerates it because I'm good at my job" schtick.
Btw, I read that in the crossover (not much of a spoiler at all, but sounds funny)

These eps are really gelling. Fun and damn if that Kara/Cat moment wasn't a little emotional. Brenda Strong is a little to over the top, but that's ok...
