SNL (S42E03) -- 10/15/16 -- H: Emily Blunt -- MG: Bruno Mars
Emily Blunt... and Bruno Mars... should be good.
Oh... and here's Bruno's new single: <fieldset style="width: 500px; margin: 0px auto; font-size: smaller;"><legend>Season 42 (2016-2017)</legend> SNL (S42E01) -- 10/01/16 -- H: Margot Robbie -- MG: The Weeknd SNL (S42E02) -- 10/08/16 -- H: Lin-Manuel Miranda -- MG: twenty one pilots SNL (S42E03) -- 10/15/16 -- H: Emily Blunt -- MG: Bruno Mars SNL (S42E04) -- 10/22/16 -- H: Tom Hanks -- MG: Lady Gaga </fieldset> |

I like Emily Blunt. She's very talented. I hope they have a good show for her.

The opening was musical and all, but not very fun...

Vanessa Bayer got the most laughs from me during the Q&A sketch and Weekend Update.... and the Chonk ad was pretty funny. |

The Lemonade parody was pretty inspired.
Otherwise, it was OK. I did like the film fest skit. Weekend Update is always pretty good. Bruno Mars is always great. |

That was...awful.
Can't think of a remotely amusing moment. The writing on the show is as weak as it has ever been, and you have to go back to the early '80s for a cast this naturally unfunny. I would call them untalented, but maybe they are capable of something outside of comedy. Weekend Update hasn't been funny for years and needs to just go away. It has been reduced to an embarrassing time waster, and an excuse to trot out a couple of characters too weak to actually put in a sketch surrounded by a half-assed monologue of lame insults foisted off as clever jokes. Just drop it altogether and cut the show down to a much tighter and denser hour. Without the benefit of a strong guest host the show really has nothing going for it any more. Without the outside help there is simply no area of strength to fall back on. If Tom Hanks and Lady Gaga can't save the show next week it may finally be time to give it up. |

While I didn't really think the sketch worked, I love the idea of hamster Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf

The Burger King sketch was just awful. Definitely a below average show.

Apparently, Trump (2x host) isn't happy.
"Watched Saturday Night Live hit job on me. Time to retire the boring and unfunny show. Alec Baldwin portrayal stinks. Media rigging election," Trump tweeted. |
