If you read this article. Season 2 was apparently a creative disaster. It ended up with the season 2 showrunner quitting.

Goliath returns 10/4.
About Goliath Season 3: The unexpected death of an old friend leads Billy McBride to take a case in the drought-stricken Central Valley where he comes face-to-face with a new Goliath: a billionaire farmer and his sister and their scheme to steal California’s most valuable resource – water. As Billy and his team pursue the truth, old enemies and personal demons resurface forcing him to confront his own mortality.

I never watched s2 because of all the reviews. I'll probably skip this because of it. I don't think I want to sit through that season to see another.

Just started the second episode. I'm getting a Twin Peaks vibe and I am not sure how I feel about that. Season 1 is great, 2 was just ok, and this one is trippy as hell, so we'll see how it ends up.

I loved season one. I watched the first episode of season two and haven't watched any episodes since. David E. Kelley wrote the first season and then moved on to other projects. The quality has really suffered due to him leaving the show.

As I mentioned that there's a Twin Peak vibe to this season -- Sherylin Fenn is in this season, as well. Coincidence?

yeah two episodes in myself and wondering if I am high or something as this show is trippin balls a little.... not sure I dig the new vibe but will go a couple more before I decide to bail or not.

I finished the season yesterday and it definitely gets better. I would say that the psychedelics wear off from about episode 4 until it ends. There's still some trippyness left but not as much as in the beginning.

This show is a mess. Episode 4 is one of the worst episodes of TV I have ever seen. I finished the season, but I will not be back for a 4th season if it happens.

I found Amy Brenneman quite sexy in this season. Shit, I didn't even recognize her until after I finished the show. Tania Raymonde is still hot as fuck.

I'm half way through this and it's pretty much a mess and is very weird.
Even if you ignore the hallucination scenes, it's still really weird. Very David Lynch-ish - but not in a good artistic way.

Hopefully it gets better.

Re: Goliath (Amazon Prime) -- S: Billy Bob Thornton -- From David E. Kelley -- 10/14/16

I would say that overall season 3 is just a tad better than season 2, because at least there was a plan, instead of just all over the fucking place. However, there is way too much contrivances, especially in how they chose to wrap it up in the final episode. The magic mushroom/acid trip stuff was mildly interesting initially, but then was used way too excessive and became boring. Like season 2 there was very little actual courtroom drama. The acting was adequate, but certain series regulars (Brittany Gold, Marisol Silva, and Denise) are barely there and had less to do in this season than some guest stars. If for some odd reason this gets renewed I might still check it out, but it would be an extremely low priority show for me.

Finished season 3 today. Meh. It got better in the 2nd half of the season, but that's not saying much. Nice seeing Dennis Quaid. Season 1 is definitely the only legitimately good season, the other two have been OK at best. I'll still tune in if a 4th season happens.

Just wrapped up Season 3. I agree with others that it was a slight improvement over Season 2, but not by much.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned how much of this season's plot is cribbed from a real-world scandal. Check out "Water & Power" A California Heist" on Netflix and you'll find out that something similar has actually happened. The filmmakers even visit a county water board that's located in the office of a corporate almond farm.

Renewed for a 4th and final season. S3 is still on my list to catch. I imagine it is better than S2, because that was awful.

Watched season 1 over the last few days...hated the last episode. NO way
Spoiler:
should he have won that case with what was presented or at least shown to us.

Ugh...

It was very intense for a few episodes then sort of lost its way with his constant beat down by the firm, cops, judge. I get it Goliath but...seemed to cop out at the end. Maybe the plan was only for one season?

Not sure I will be back for 2-? Based on the comments from others on seasons 2 and 3.

It's been a while, but I enjoyed Season One (and I don't recall the ending or whether it bothered me) but the comments here about the following seasons make it difficult to jump back in as I intended to.

Man I really enjoyed Season 1 but Season 2 is a big ole mess. If what made you upset was the outcome of the legal case, don't worry about Season 2 - there's almost no courtroom scenes that season.

Re: Goliath (Amazon Prime) -- S: Billy Bob Thornton -- From David E. Kelley -- 10/14/16

I binged seasons one and two a while back and am with everyone here who gave a thumbs up to s1 and thumbs down to s2. I will say, though, that there were parts of s2 I liked, such as the cold open where Ortega narrated the bedtime story about his adopted sister. Also thought Mark Duplass's character was interesting but didn't belong on a legal drama...which is fine, I guess, because s2 belonged to a completely different genre. And his final scene...dunno if David E. Kelley would've ever written anything like that.

I just slowly worked my way through s3 and finished it today. Dennis Quaid's karaoke concert and Beau Bridges's 18th century ball really had me wondering what I was watching. Also, not sure why the writers felt like they needed to bring back Lauren Tom; that flashback episode where she figures prominently struck me as being an unnecessary side trip. I get what the reason in the story was for McBride's self-imposed exile from L.A., but I thought that seemed like the writers trying to distance the show even further from s1 by changing the setting.

About Amy Brenneman in the final episode
Spoiler:
are we supposed to infer that McBride sent her the recording or that she went through Dennis Quaid's stuff and stumbled upon it? If it was McBride's doing then that was pretty underhanded after he promised to hand over all the copies to get the $500M settlement. With Quaid dying at the end, I guess no one is going to be paying Griffin Dunne $10M for his land.

I'll probably tune in for s4, but since Shapiro and Kelley are long gone, I'm expecting more of what we got from s2 and s3.

I'm really curioius: did anyone here actually like all three seasons? From the reactions I've read, it seems like anybody who enjoyed s1 tended not to like the subsequent seasons, which was definitely the case for me.

^ Totally agree. This was one of my biggest complaints about s1.
Spoiler:
IIRC Molly Parker actually said during the trial that they were ahead. From where I was sitting, yes, the big firm was definitely ahead on points. Have no idea what swayed the jury...McBride's closing statement? I completely agree that the happy ending for the good guys was a cop out that made no sense given what we saw of the trial.

That kind of looks fun. Sort of surprised that it’s coming back. I never watched Season 3. Wonder if I have to. It didn’t look good or get good reviews.
