Re: "Stranger Things", TV Line reported:

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday, Matt and Ross Duffer (aka the Duffer Brothers) — the creators behind Netflix’s eight-episode nostalgia trip — told reporters that a potential second season would delve into “bigger mythology” behind Will’s disappearance. “There are definitely a lot of cliffhanger-y threads at the end [of the Season 1 finale],” explained Matt. “It’s open-ended in a way that if people wanted it, and Netflix wanted it, we could explore it and continue the storyline.”

I liked the first few episodes, but didn't much care for the rest. It did a good job creating an eerie atmosphere, but felt it lost its way and just wasn't very engaging.

I will continue to tune in to season 2 next Fall when it airs.

SyFy renews Channel Zero for 2 more seasons (seasons 3 and 4)

Season 2 airs this Fall

Each season I think is supposed to be self-contained.

Yes, it's an anthology series. The 2nd season is called "No-End House" as mentioned earlier in this thread. It won't premiere until October. I'm guessing SyFy will have this series occupy October's for the next 2 years with this renewal.

1st episode was really creepy, especially the stuff with the apparent dead Dad

I liked it better than how last season started.

The black girl with curly hair was on a lot of Freeform/ABC family shows over the last few years.

Yeah, that was really creepy. I have no idea where the story is going, but I'm excited to find out. As DJariya said, I'm already liking this better than the 1st season. I didn't really care for the actors in season 1, but everyone seems well cast here.

I feel like I just watched a nightmare.

I thought the first episode was very creepy. It had an early Stephen King vibe if you discount the modern presence of cellphones and video.

Season three - known as Butcher's Block - follows “a young woman named Alice (Olivia Luccardi) who moves to a new city and learns about a series of disappearances that may be connected to a baffling rumor about mysterious staircases in the city’s worst neighborhoods. With help from her sister, she discovers that something is preying on the city’s residents.”

The cast for Butcher's Block is pretty impressive, containing a collection of seasoned vets and new indie stars. The characters/performers this season are:

Holland Roden (Teen Wolf) as Zoe Woods, Alice’s sharp, tough older sister whose struggles with mental illness have worn her down over the years;

Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner) as Joseph Peach, a 1950s meatpacking magnate who grew increasingly reclusive and then disappeared after his beloved daughters were murdered

Brandon Scott (Wreck-It Ralph) as Officer Luke Vanczyk, a young but already jaded cop, living in the shadow of his father, the Chief of Police.

Krisha Fairchild (Krisha) as Louise Lispector, a retired journalist who has lived in Garrett, Michigan her whole life. Now she spends her days doing taxidermy and working on her personal project: A book about a pattern of disappearances in the city’s worst neighborhood.

Not much love for this show, huh? Anyways, I've been catching up since our library has the first two seasons. I watched season one and thought overall it was pretty good, but I wish the pacing was a little better. And now I'm two episodes into season two and it does indeed feel more creepy than the first season and I like the characters little more. Can't wait to see where it goes.

Re: Channel Zero (SyFy) -- Horror Anthology Series -- Series Thread -- Premieres 10/1

Season one - A very creepy story (the monster has a very effective design) with mild pacing issues. Definitely worth watching.

Season two - I enjoyed this season the most of the three, though what started out as incredibly unique became mildly repetitive by the end. This had the best pilot by far.

Season three - Interesting idea but not my cup of tea. Outside of Rutger Hauer, I didn't like the casting on this season at all. They tried jamming too many different sub-genres of horror together in one package for my liking.

I missed Seasons 2 and 3, but hope to catch them somewhere at some point.

Channel Zero: The Dream Door: "Based on the “creepypasta” short story Hidden Door by Charlotte Bywater, Channel Zero: The Dream Door follows newlyweds Jillian (Sten) and Tom (Scott), who have each brought secrets into their marriage. When they discover a strange door in their basement, those secrets start to threaten their relationship — and their lives."

The season premieres Oct. 26, and a new episode will screen on Syfy each night leading up to the finale on Oct. 31.

I like that they're airing this in a compressed timeframe leading up to Halloween.

Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available on Shudder. I believe the 3rd season will be posted at the end of the month.

This 4th season is airing at 11pm ET nightly.

S1 was good, S2 was great, S3 was kind of a mess. I'll definitely check out S4 once it hits DVD and our library gets it. I love the short seasons.

The short seasons certainly make Channel Zero tighter and better focused.

Re: Channel Zero (SyFy) -- Horror Anthology Series -- Series Thread

Anyone watch The Dream Door?

It started out strong. The first episode and even most of the second episode had me on the edge. Then the show becomes a statement on relationships or something. What started out scary became more and more half-baked. The ending didn't really do it for me. I guess your opinion is going to come down on how you feel about the reveal.

The only intensely creepy moment for me was the baby. I'll grant The Dream Door was an improvement from season three.

I'd rank the seasons in order as Two being the best, then 1 closely behind it. Dream Door and season three pulling up the rear.

Re: Channel Zero (SyFy) -- Horror Anthology Series -- Series Thread

Our library just got The Dream Door and we spent the last couple days watching it and really enjoyed it. I would put it right behind S2. I was bummed to hear that the series has been canceled, but glad we got four seasons. For someone that doesn't watch much TV, the six episode seasons were really nice with not much filler.

I signed up for Shudder last night and just finished season 1. I loved it, this is really good. I'll definitely watch the other 3 seasons. Shame to hear it was cancelled.

Comparing it to the more well known horror anthology series, American Horror Story (which I've only watched the first 5 seasons), I'd say this is much better (assuming seasons 2-4 are as good as the 1st one was).

I was surprised to discover that all four seasons of Channel Zero received Blu-ray releases overseas. So if you are looking to own them, start hunting.
