Re: The Flash (S3E02) -- "Paradox" -- 10/11/16

It's pretty cool they've let Flashpoint spill out into the other shows. I wonder if they'll end up resetting or if they'll really commit to the changes. I would rather they commit, otherwise nothing has any consequences.

Tom Cavanaugh was in the opening credits but did not make an appearance (unless he was who was watching Flash and Rival.)

And I totally called Caitlyn as having her frost powers when my wife and I were watching. That's good stuff.

I wonder how far in advance some of these plotlines are thought up, especially interactions between shows. Diggle's son in that photo was the future Green Arrow in that episode of Legends of Tomorrow, so I wonder if this is a retcon to bring that character into existance or if there was a "master plan" as far back as when that LoT episode was written.

What did you do Barry?!?! What did you do????

Barry fucked up the timeline. I can't wait until he tells Diggle he had a daughter...

Pretty sure they did Flashpoint so Flash and Supergirl can be in the same universe and play with each other on occasion.

I believe the producers are still saying she's in a different universe.

I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. The premiere was kind of bland for some reason, maybe "alternate timeline" fatigue, but I thought this one went really well.

Re: The Flash (S3E02) -- "Paradox" -- 10/11/16

Oh man, poor Sara Diggle. Wiped out from existence because of fucking Barry.

John Diggle Jr. (who you all saw in the photograph) as mentioned above was introduced in an episode of Legends of Tomorrow last season as an adult. He was the future Green Arrow aka Connor Hawke when the team traveled to the future and met old Oliver Queen. I know some here don't watch/dropped Legends and probably weren't aware of that. So it looks like Legends of Tomorrow is sort of following this Flashpoint storyline.

Funny thing though in last week's episode of Arrow, Diggle did say he was experiencing a sense of Deja Vu. I'm guessing Arrow may have already been impacted as well. I'm already getting a headache thinking about how Flashpoint changed Arrow, brought Legends into the mix and will probably impact Supergirl.

Felicity knows about the timeline change, so Ollie probably knows about it as well. This leaves them open to changing the show as much as they want now.

As far as LoT, they discussed the whole idea of alternate timelines during the first season. So when they traveled to the future with Conor Hawke there was no definitive answer whether that was going to happen.

He mentioned he was from Earth 3 last season. Which is confusing because in the comics he from Earth 2.

I did with the little shout out to Dawson's Creek being shown on TV (1998) when Garrick and Barry walked into that cafe. For those who didn't know, Shipp was the father on that show.

Re: The Flash (S3E02) -- "Paradox" -- 10/11/16

Ratings took a dive. While I thought it was alright, not having everything in the right place does make things feel like they have consequences, but it also is a cheap method to fix whatever problems they felt they needed to reboot/address. I guess this will mean that they no longer house criminals in Flash Gitmo anymore.

Just feels a bit cheap and one of the major reasons why I didn't like Flashpoint in the comics as well.

It does feel odd that quite a few things that we watched never happened in this timeline.

And based on the rules they made. Would Berry start to forget about the other timeline even though the changes are smaller then when he saved his Mom.

Wow, this episode was a bold move for a successful show. Barry permanently screws up the timeline, wreaking changes in everyone's history.

While I am not sure I approve of every change, I think it makes for exciting possibilities going forward. It looks like the writers have a good idea of where this is all headed.

So which villain is Doctor Alchemy preparing the world for? I have some guesses but it feels like cheating since I know so much Flash history.

The comic book Doctor Alchemy had the fabled Philosopher's Stone which could transmute elements.

Interesting that Cisco didn't immediately suspect that Barry's meddling with time is what killed his brother.

This could have potential huge repercussions for the Arrowverse. Being that we are in an "alternate" timeline anything they want to change they now can.

It remains to be seen how much this effects Arrow and LoT. Since they technically exist outside the timestream, LoT should be safe from the changes, except for what they experience when they get back.

Stranger- I have my own ideas what they're setting up. I am a DC comics guy- The Flash has always been my favorite.

I suspect that the LoT folks will fix the timeline at the end of this season of the Flash

I agree, though Flash sort of has the Superman problem, where you need someone with similar powers to pose any sort of threat. Or powers that are specifically designed to negate the Flash (like the slow-down guy).

That kind of stuff is contractually based and governed by SAG rules.

Not always. People are regularly dropped from the credits if they aren't appearing as often or to not spoil a surprise.
