MONDAY, OCTOBER 10

THE CW PREMIERE

SUPERGIRL

"The Adventures of Supergirl" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

THE CW HAS A NEW HERO AND SHE'S BRINGING SUPERMAN WITH HER - When a new threat emerges in National City, Kara/Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with her cousin, Clark Kent/Superman (guest star Tyler Hoechlin), to stop it. Kara is thrilled to have family in town but it leaves Alex (Chyler Leigh) feeling a bit left out. Meanwhile, Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl are stunned by the pod that came crashing to Earth. Glen Winter directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Jessica Queller (#201). Original airdate 10/10/2016.

22 episode 2nd season.

Remember, the show is now on The CW. You need to delete your old CBS season pass and set a new one for the new network.

Love this promo. No spoilers in it.

Season 1 is on Netflix if you need to catch up before season 2. If you aren't able to watch on TV, the show will be available free the next day on the CW website or app.

Maybe it was just how bogged down season 2 of Flash got, but this is the superhero show I'm most looking forward to at this point.

Though I am still disappointed that we lose Cat Grant for a good portion of the season.

Is this now the Supergirl and Superman show, or is it Supergirl with Superman coming to the rescue every few episodes?

It's still Supergirl's show. Superman will just be an occasional guest star.

I was hoping it was just a one-off. We don't need Supergirl turning into Gotham (with too many heroes and villains). It's already feeling slightly over-stuffed and it's only the beginning of Season 2.

First episode now, loving it. Apparently, Lex Luther's hijinks with real estate are part of the canon of this timeline.

That was great. These CW writers get Superman so much better than Snyder.

That was fantastic. Far better than anything in the first season. The tone, the humor, the score, across the board it was an improvement over last season. The biggest improvement was the fight coreography. The scene with Agent Danvers was leagues better than anything last season had to offer.

I was lukewarm about the show last season. It was fun but not really great, nor truly bad...just kind of there. This episode has completely changed that.

Re: Supergirl (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "The Adventures of Supergirl" -- 10/10/1

I completely agree, this was an amazing episode. It had everything I wanted from a Supergirl series. Easily the best episode we've gotten of Supergirl. Every note was pitch-perfect in execution. "That's it, we are moving back to Gotham."

I was surprised they seem to be dropping her romance with James so quickly. I wouldn't have minded them playing with that arc for awhile.

Superman and his costume looked much better on screen than the still photos we had seen. I have no complaints with it and the actor handled the iconic role with grace.

The Lena Luthor character should be interesting. I am hoping we get Mercy, Lex's personal bodyguard. She must be looking for work now that Lex is in jail.

I am very excited about this season after seeing the improvements.

Fantastic. Hey look, DC movie makers, you CAN make Superman fun.

Miss Teschmacher was GREAT. Out of nowhere and perfectly executed.

Wow. A lot of stuff packed into one episode. Things we know:

Lex exists.
Metallo exists.
Daxam exists?
Gotham exists.
J'onn thinks like Batman.
Someone is stealing Kryptonite from the DEO

Anything else?

That was a super fun 1 hour.

Tyler Hoechlin really sold me as this new TV version of Superman. He was very likable.

Even though it moved to The CW, I felt like the special effects were just as good as the 1st season.

Stealing kryptonite? I guess I missed that.

Yeah, not sure that's what was going on either. Supes was just mad because the DEO keeps kryptonite on hand.

Metallo is powered by Kryptonite. As far as we know the DEO is the only ones to posses K. That's why Supes' was annoyed with J'onn.

Turned out too intense for our then 4-year-old daughter so I tuned out early last season because we had really hoped to watch it together. Will likely catch up on Netflix. In the meantime I have to ask, is the shift from CBS to CW a good thing? In terms of show quality, budget, longevity, and viewership? I don't really know how network hopping works.

Moving to CW is the best thing that could happen to Supergirl. They let shows continue for a long time there. Hell Supernatural is on season 12 I think. Smallville ran for 10. The big 3 will drop something easily.

And the added bonus of shared universe with the other DC shows.

Loved Ms tessmacher, and wynn asked about the earthquake lex caused. Reeve superman is canon!

One episode in, it seems to be a good thing. The show "fits" in the CW DC world now. On CBS it always had this element of catering to that crowd, which is NOT the CW. Even something like the fight choreography was better on the CW. And my assumption is that's because it's good on Arrow and more acceptable to the CW audience. That's just one example.

Lower budget, lower audience expectations. In the overnight ratings, the show did extremely well for The CW, but a much lower audience then it had on CBS.
