THE FBI CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE THE CAPITOL BOMBING, WHILE PRESIDENT KIRKMAN DEALS WITH A HIGH-LEVEL SECURITY BREACH AND PREPARES FOR HIS FIRST TELEVISION INTERVIEW, ON ABC'S 'DESIGNATED SURVIVOR'

ABC News' Elizabeth Vargas Guest Stars as Herself

"The Confession" - President Kirkman and his staff work to keep a high-level security breach of the White House a secret just as he's about to give his first television interview. Meanwhile, the FBI continues to investigate the Capitol bombing, and Agent Hannah Wells starts to develop her own theories about who was really behind the attack, on ABC's "Designated Survivor," WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5 (10:00 - 11:00 p.m. EDT).

"Designated Survivor" stars Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, Natascha McElhone as Alex Kirkman, Adan Canto as Aaron Shore, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, LaMonica Garrett as Mike Ritter with Kal Penn as Seth Wright and Maggie Q as Hannah Wells.

Guest Starring are Virginia Madsen as Congresswoman Kimble Hookstraten, Kevin R. McNally as Harris Cochran and Elizabeth Vargas as herself.

"The Confession" was written by Jennifer Johnson and Paul Redford. Sergio Mimca-Gezzan is the director.

"Designated Survivor" is from The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios. David Guggenheim is the creator and executive producer. Executive Producers of "Pilot" are Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Jon Harmon Feldman, Nick Pepper, Suzan Bymel, Aditya Sood, Amy Harris and Kiefer Sutherland.

ABC ordered a full 22 episode season last week

Decent episode, although I could do without the stuff with Kirkman's son.

How old is the son supposed to be, anyway? Assuming he is underage, can the President's son really just come and go as he pleases? Seemingly without Secret Service protection, at the time of a major crisis? Maybe I misread the scene, but it seemed like the mom showed up at the house with the Secret Service guy and the kid just happened to be there by himself.

I know they are going for drama, but I'd rather see them depict a regular kid being pulled from his typical life and friends into this craziness and trying to adjust, versus making him this problem child who creates 'drama' by making stupid decisions.

The kid's secret service was there: they were the ones who told the main secret service guy where the kid was. When the mom arrived I think there was someone by the front door. I too would prefer the regular kid adjusting to public life story and maybe we'll get that now that his life as a drug dealer is hopefully over.

My main problem with Kirkman's kid is that he's wearing waaaaaaaaay too much makeup.

Seriously, more than Natascha McElhone. Makeup should not be obvious for male actors on screen unless intended which this clearly is not.

Just stop with the Son already.

What a terrible classic network move.

Not necessary!

One kid would have been enough.

And the glasses, need to go, it's just silly.

Waiting for Maggie Q to let er rip.

Honestly I didn't find the subplot with Tom's son that annoying. What was that like 10-15% of the episode?

Most of the episode focused on Kirkman and then Hannah's investigation of the mystery disappearing politician during the State of the Union.

Now we're seeing that Kirkman's newly appointed Chief of Staff might be shady. I have a feeling before the season is over Emily will end up replacing him.

Maybe not shady, maybe he's just willing to do anything possible to get what he wants.
Maybe this report on Kirkman is something he's getting to help him.

Too easy to lead viewers one path. The Chief of Staff and that lad disappearing from the State of Union are made to look bad now, I'm not so sure they are.
