Kev has always been one of my favorite characters on this show. I can take or leave Vi but Kevin is awesome sauce. He really deserves his own show once Shameless is over. He appears to be fearless and that is always good for successful comedy. Plus he has great comic timing but can bring the drama just as good when needed to.

All’s well that ends well: Shameless leading lady Emmy Rossum has resolved her equal-pay salary dispute with Showtime, clearing the way for a Season 8 renewal, TVLine has confirmed.
The actress shared the news on social media early Wednesday:
@emmyrossum
Playing Fiona Gallagher has been one of the great privileges of my life. I'm so happy to continue w my SHAMELESS family!Back to work in May!
Earlier this week it was reported that Rossum had been seeking salary parity with co-star William H. Macy. Rossum’s camp reportedly argued that the actress should be paid more than Macy to make up for the seven seasons in which she earned considerably less than the veteran actor.
Terms of Rossum’s new deal were not disclosed.
Showtime has yet to officially renew Shameless for an eighth season. The series’ current seventh season wraps on Dec. 18.

Good to hear. For those of you who keep asking when the series is going to end, check out this piece of info:

Seven seasons in, Shameless remains a ratings force and a critical darling. It is the highest rated Showtime series among adults 18-49 and second most watched behind Homeland in Live+same day ratings.

Emily should be paid as much as Macy. She is the anchor of the show and arguably a more important character to the show than Macy's character. Frank could die and the show could still keep cruising.
Good news about it still being popular. The show jumped the shark long ago but is still extremely entertaining. I could see it continuing for as long as the writers want to since they aren't afraid of crazy storylines and all the actors on the show are pretty fearless.

Shameless (S7E12) - Season Finale - "Requiem for a Slut" - 12/18/16
The Gallaghers deal with the loss of one of their own and grapple with mixed feelings about their grief. Meanwhile, Frank devises a new scheme, and Debbie, Carl and Liam get roped into it. Elsewhere, Lip takes steps to improve his future; and Kev and V get their revenge on Svetlana.
Emmy Rossum worked out her contract issues and this seems to be coming back for an 8th season.

A great episode and would've been a fine series finale. Overall the season was very strong. They dropped some storylines abruptly but other than that there were a lot of great payoffs.

It was a good finale. I guess it can work as a series finale as well if that's what's going to happen.
Neat to hear how Frank was on the straight and narrow and that Monica was the person that corrupted him. I'm not sure if that was mentioned in a previous episode.

Would've been fine if last night was the series finale. Sure felt like one.

What happened with Svetlana? No appearance in the last two episodes. Nothing at the Alibi at all. I wonder if this is the first episode without any scenes at the Alibi. They should have at least had some of the usual Alibi customers come to Monica's service.
They should have had a least a little crossover with the Mickey storyline and Svetlana since he is the father of her kid.

Just had someone recommend this show to me, especially once he found out I am a William H. Macy fan. Is this a "bingeable" show? Or is it better in small doses? I ask because I was surprised to see it was on a seventh season. That's a lot of episodes to watch if I choose to start.

I think it's bingeable, but if I were you I'd stop after season 3 or 4. The show's been spinning its wheels for the past few seasons now. It seems like every time the show moves forward with something, a character does something stupid and we're back at square one again. It's almost like "Poor People's Groundhog Day". While it's entertaining at first, after a while it just feels like they're going through the motions - like the last seasons of Dexter, but not nearly as bad.
All this is IMHO, obviously.

It was weird as I also expected some type of resolution to the Alibi situation. But it seems the people running the show changed their mind, and decided to give it a more series finale like ending, possibly due to the contract dispute.

I don't think the Alibi thing was revisited because it was written as a potential series finale. Maybe we were supposed to assume that Kev & Vi have moved on based on Kevs latest adventure in manwhoring.

I kind of liked this season, didn't care for last year, but I thought they finally moved the needle a little bit on some of the characters.
I'll be back for another one.

The new season starts November 5th, about a month later than last year. It would be ending at the start of February if they take 2 weeks off in December for Christmas & New Year's Eve which are Sundays.
