I mean, let's see, who isn't happy that Lip hits bottom yet again. Just give him a bigger bottle and let him just succumb to being Frank's pupil already.

This is my current issue with the character arcs. It seems like more and more they are just trying to resist their inevitable fates as lower class citizens.

I still really enjoy this show. It may have jumped the shark long ago but I get more laughs and creative storylines out of this show than most comedies or dramas that are out there right now.
And the acting in the show is always fantastic...down to the smallest, minimal character. Whoever is the casting director on this show needs to get some kind of award if they haven't already. And all of the main cast deserve Emmys in my opinion (if they haven't already won them).
I knew Debbie was setting herself up to get fucked on the kid thing. People saying she should do this or do that have to remember that she is only 15 (or 14) and just does stupid things and doesn't think anything through.
I also knew there was no way Lip was going to be accepted back to school. I love the character and really would like to see something good come of him. But he tends to fuck up anything good that ever happens to him no matter what. And I know some people just like that.

I'm in the same boat with the Lip thing for a few reasons.
First, they're just rehashing the same thing with him. It looks like he learned his lesson and got over his shit, and then he's back to where he was. I don't buy his alcoholism. They keep jumping a few steps in his drinking and it doesn't come off as legic.
So he was upset that the company he was interning at got shut down... and then he's pissed that he couldn't get back into school. So he starts drinking heavily again because he feels like he's trapped. And then he's got another shot with a chance at a paid internship and he still needs to be convinced about it. They make his character way too stupid. He has brains, common sense and self-realisation - yet he keeps doing the dumbest things.
Has Chloe Webb every played a character that wasn't annoying? She played the most annoying character in the history of film in Sid & Nancy, and seems to be cast that way ever since (unless it's her real-life personality that's doing it).
Hopefully Micky isn't back only temporarily. He's one of the best characters on the show.

Lip has always been a self destrustive pity party and the only thing that kept him away from ending up on a path like Frank is Fiona,Ian or Mandy was there to nurture him. Now that Fiona and Ian are older and fouced on themselves and his current gf already has another kid to worry about and can't baby him , he doesn't have anyone to hold his hand on the right path like he did earlier.

Another episode where a main character is coming to the end of his arc. Interesting. I really hope they don't pull a Penny Dreadful on us.

I'd be perfectly fine if it wraps up without us knowing it is the series finale. As long as it has closure.

So it seems that there is a specific reason why a renewal for season 8 hasn't been announced yet. They are still negotiating with Emmy Rossum. It seems she wants to be paid as much or more than William H. Macy. The show could either be canceled or continue without her if she doesn't get what she wants.

That's interesting. Bill Macy is the reason most people gravitated to the show in the first place. On the flipside, Emmy is more or less the main character. If I were her I'd hold them up for money as well. It's not like she's actually a talented actress so this is probably the most she'll ever be able to demand for a role.

In the original UK version of Shameless, Fiona was gone after only two seasons.
Now that most of the kids are adults, or at least fending for themselves -- Debbie is married and scamming her way through life, Carl is off to mlitary school -- Fiona isn't really necessary. And even Frank seems to be taking an interest in Liam these days.
Fiona doesn't really seem necessary.

It's not like she is making pay demands in the show's second or third year. After seven seasons, and being the lead character, it is clearly justifiable.
The show should end anyway.

showtime doesn't have much in the que, so I think they will cave for a year while they continue to restock the pipeline.
Although I like The Affair, I gave up on Ray Donovan last season, and I never finished S1 of Billions, I might get back to that. They just cancelled Master of Sex and Homeland is very much on its last legs...
I think she gets her payday, its probably still a steady show for them.

^^ Homeland was renewed for 2 more seasons.
Billions is worth checking out.
Twin Peaks should get them some eyes next year.

Re: Shameless (S7E10) -- "Ride or Die" -- 12/4/16
It really started going downhill with the big time-jump in S3 and many characters being ditched. It was less about the research and work, and more about the stupid Bill/Virginia romantic crap. I stuck around for the few interesting things that happened, but only watched while doing other things. I'm ok with the way it ended... felt like there was enough closure.
I can't blame Rossum for holding out. She's been one of the key centres of the show and should be getting paid for it. It just seems like she should've done this earlier because the show has run out of gas.
Showtime's hurting for shows. I can't see Ray Donovan and Billions lasting much longer.

As some of you already know, a potential 8th season is in limbo due to a salary dispute between Emmy Rossum, WB and Showtime.

Solid episode. They are marketing this upcoming Sunday's as the season finale. But they did the same thing with Penny Dreadful so.....
Anyhow, it was nice to Ian / Mickey have a sweet ending. I was worried it would end badly.

Steve Howey is so underrated. He has been hilarious this season.

Yeah, they should just give Steve Howey a raise. The "rape walker", lighting his paralyzed neighbor on fire...his character seems to generate the most actual laughs from me.
I wonder how long they'll negotiate with Rossum. They could always push back the next season to premiere in January 2018.
