"The First Day" - Hours after the attack on the Capitol, President Kirkman steps into his role as Commander-in-Chief in the midst of chaos and confusion. Facing dangerous new challenges and adversaries, Kirman struggles to hold a country together that is on the brink of falling apart. Virginia Madsen guest stars on the highly anticipated ABC series "Designated Survivor," WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT).

"Designated Survivor" stars Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, Natascha McElhone as Alex Kirkman, Adan Canto as Aaron Shore, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, LaMonica Garrett as Mike Ritter with Kal Penn as Seth Wright and Maggie Q as Hannah Wells.

"The First Day," was written by Jon Harmon Feldman and David Guggenheim. Brad Turner is the director.

"Designated Survivor" is from The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios. David Guggenheim is the creator and executive producer. Executive Producers of "Pilot" are Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Jon Harmon Feldman, Nick Pepper, Suzan Bymel, Aditya Sood, Amy Harris and Kiefer Sutherland.

Well, we got a "Damn it!" from Kirkman! :-)

Still don't know what to think of this show. Some dumb subplots, but the two main plots are holding my interest. I'll give it a few more weeks....

Between "TIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMEEEEEE WILLLLLL SAAAAAVVVVEEEEE YOOOOUUUU!!!!" and Keifer talking with the megaphone aimed at the ground the whole time, I think this show would be as a comedy.

Loved Tom's 25 Dammit!! :lol:

It was interesting seeing Tom starting to feel overwhelmed by the position and eventually gathering his composure. They toned down the evil general and his conniving ways although he was pushing Tom for retaliation.

:lol: at the secret service agent saying Tom's nickname was "glasses"

And go figure Kal Penn becomes subjected to racial profiling :lol:

Guess Maggie Q's husband or boyfriend is one of the many missing in action.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought Episode 2 was WAY better than the pilot. Still some stupid things going on, but much more entertaining this week.

I'm surprised Tom hasn't picked a VP yet.

I don't trust Virginia Madsen's new character. She's up to something.

Wouldn't there be ex-Presidents still alive that Tom could call upon for advice?

Big Keifer Sutherland fans, show is more than passably entertaining for us, and come on, Maggie Q. We'll stay tuned in unless they do something really stupid.

This show is ok so far. Got a big laugh from the "damn it" bit.

So when can I expect this show to turn into White House Down or Olympus Has Fallen? Because that's what I want. If this is just 90% politics, it won't keep my interest.

I think it's doubtful we'll see TOO much action, given the F/X so far haven't exactly been cutting-edge...even for TV. Even the Oval Office has a cheap TV-set feel to it...you'd think that's the one set they could get right, since so many other series/movies have.

Are you even familiar with Maggie Q's resume? She has a long history of action films to her. :hscratch:

Agreed.

Some of the subplots are cliche, but at least some people are saying logical things, like Maggie Q. I don't think her boss is in on anything, just being smart.

Seems odd - if somebody inside the government was in on it, wouldn't they try and make themselves not blow up. The Masden character seems very low profile person to be some "other" designated survivor.
