Interesting. He appears to have the range to do it; would be a good choice. But I'm firmly in the camp that Idris > anyone else for Bond. The dude oozes Bond machismo. Character could use a bit of Stringer Bell in him.

Kate will be getting a new friend when the show returns:

Longmire actor Adam Bartley has been cast in a recurring role on NBC’s breakout dramedy This is Us.

Starring Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown, This Is Us follows an ensemble — some of them sharing the same birthday — whose life stories intertwine in curious ways. Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan and Ron Cephas Jones co-star.

Bartley will play Duke, who works at a local horse stable and support Kate (Metz) during a difficult time.

Best known for his series regular role of Sheriff’s Deputy Jim “the Ferg” Ferguson on Longmire, Bartley also currently recurs on NCIS: Los Angeles. His feature credits include supporting roles in Annabelle 2 and Under the Silver Lake. He’s repped by Haven Entertainment and Gersh.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/20/16

We certainly didn't see Dennis O'Hare's character coming. Even when he was first introduced him in the meeting I wasn't sure he was connected to William until they made it clearer. The daughter's "he's at least bi" comment was a classic.

We'll miss Toby. But if it means an improvement for the daughter's part in this show, so be it.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/20/16

Damn, poor Toby

His heart couldn't take one last roll in the sack with Kate.

Good midseason finale. Some interesting plot developments. Didn't see the reveal with William and Jessie coming.

I'm really loving this show. Definitely the best new network series this season. If you've been peaking at this thread and haven't watched, you should definitely make an effort to catch up.

10 episodes have aired and the show doesn't come back for about 1 month. You definitely have time to catch up.

Back tonight. It is on at 10pm instead of 9pm due to President Obama's farewell address.

The "Toby" matter will be revealed in the first five minutes of the episode, says the actor who plays/played him. I get the feeling the next time we see Toby will be in a flashback, if you know what I mean.

I've been watching an episode of "The Americans" here and there and thought it was funny seeing Toby as an assassin in the first season.

Man, it's going to be a well hosted super bowl party at Kate's with Toby in one urn, Jack in another.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/20/16

Spoiler:
Obviously, many of us guessed wrong, but with every affirmation of Kate and Toby's future, I expected a sudden, shocking turn ending up with him dead (they seemed to go out of their way to poke at the usual clichéd lines that lead to a sudden, tragic death. I'm still not expecting Toby to make it to the end of the season,

I didn't like this episode. It felt a bit like a filler episode.

I was thinking that too. I have the feeling that the dad will pop up in later flashbacks.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/20/16

Based on what they showed in the flashback, hiding the marriage (and kids) from the dad was a good idea. But he could show up in the present if he was to discover in the present that his family exists. Kind of the opposite of the story line going one with the son finding biological father.

I agree that while Toby survived the initial incident they seem tot be setting up the audience for a second incident that he doesn't survive.

One of the best parts of show lately has been Sloane. Total hottie.

I liked the moments with Jack and Rebecca pre-babies and how he managed to scrounge up all that money for their house.

Glad Toby made it.

Re: This Is Us (NBC) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 9/20/16

I liked how they introduced yet another generation with Jack and the flashback with his parents. Will be interesting to see if they expand on that more. The stuff with Toby - yeah, feels like that might have been set up for something else to come. Nice small callback to the Doctor when Jack and Rebecca found out they're having triplets.

Agreed on Sloane. Would choose her over the other actress. Kevin screwed that one up with his rambling; hopefully he can make amends with Sloane.

I expected Sloane to throw in the dig "even when you don't want to," but he got the point anyway.

That picture above doesn't look anything like Milana Vayntrub.

I expect we will get an scene where he explains that he was telling the crazy blonde what he wanted her to hear.

Shows just how hot she is when they are not trying to make her look like the "second" choice.

No. I mean it looks like a completely different person. Like that isn't actually her in the picture. I know when you Google her that pic comes up, but it just doesn't look like her to me.

It's possible, but there are other pictures where she is also heavily made-up and they are very similar. The soft focus on the face does't help.

That would be in an interesting storyline. I'm thinking the dad will pop up in flashbacks after Jack's death and then Rebecca tries to keep him from knowing the kids.
