Dutch!

During the recap - and for those bitching about last week's episode and how nobody saw the Crimson Worm escape - well, Th steam were a great distance from him and Fet threw that fucking silver flash grenade that blew him apart while Quinlan got shot up after he cut the Master's head off. So no, no one actually saw the worm escape.

Fun episode! The suicide vampires were a nice and funny touch. Disgusting, too.

What?

Maybe you should rewatch the third ep....

Here is the crimson worm falling into the drain, and you can see the blurred figure of Sektrakian looking there:

A few frames later shows Sektrakian in a bit more clarity:

Clearly he was there in time to have seen the crimson worm fall...

He even appears to have touched the drain with his hand before standing back up and walking away.

So to me it seemed pretty obvious that Sek saw something at the very least, but maybe he wasn't fully sure what it was he happened to glance... Either way he never brought it up / said anything about it to anyone.

Ah, the recap didn't show that closeup. It only showed the team at a distance and Quinlan had already gotten shot up. That's why Setrakian had trouble celebrating. He didn't tell them about the Crimson Worm he saw slithering away.

Setrakian didn't understand the significance of the worm at the time.

Have we learned why the ancient ones seem to just sit around all day?

Because otherwise, The Master would've been done before he started, and the creators couldn't have that - yet couldn't resist having the coolish, mysterious anti-Master Ancients making an appearance? (I dunno, as I haven't read the novels. I can only assume a proper answer exists there, although cleary, the series is diverging wildly from the source material largely for budgetary/scope and scale of setting reasons.)

Speaking of The Ancients. I like when Quinlan threatened one of them and it woke up and tensed up like it was going kill Quinlan. I was like oh shit - let's back away slooooowly. haha

Yeah, because they have had no indication up till now that there is connection between worms and the munchers.

If it went down that way in the books then the book made a bad call there too. Just a very lazy way to extend the plot with The Master.

I figure The Ancients are staying dormant so they don't have to feed any more than necessary. If they are like The Master (seems like they are similar, if not equal) they can see all without moving anyway. That scene proved they can take care of things if threatened.

What I meant was that vamps have hundreds of worms in them. The significance of a red one wasn't obvious except in hindsight, and he couldn't get to it in time anyway.

I was somewhat surprised Fet didn't immediately grab or smash the worm before it entered Justine's eye. It took a good 5 seconds or so before it did that, plenty of time to get rid of it.

Not going to restore the ep my dvr to watch it again, but my take was he had plenty of time to crush it rather than just watch it makes it's way through the drain. If they wanted to imply otherwise, maybe they shouldn't have had him directly over it.
