Why do I keep watching this show?

Gus and Angel turn Gus's mom loose on the "cops" and the cops are more concerned with catching Gus and Angel? None of them even took a shot at her.

Another hour of pure tom-fuckery. Ask me what happened on this episode and I would be lacking for any meaningful description. Again.

Our heroes seem to be continuing to move on random, solitary, self-serving paths that are doing very little to advance the story, save the world, or make me care about them.

Ok, I posted that with about 15 minutes to go ...

The end finally got moving! Although it seems to have (once again) re-written some of the rules. That said, this has still become an incredibly slow moving show.

Yeah the stuff with Gus' mom is beyond stupid.

Gus seems to have the same stupidity gene as Eph's son. What makes either think vampirism is reversible?

Eph didn't ask two obvious questions of Quinlan: are you immune to the Master's control, and are you immune to infection by the worms? We know from the flashback he is, but still...

Did Quinlan not know about the alpha worm? The obvious mode of attack should have been fire, not guns and swords. They've used fire before against vampires.

I was surprised Angel so willingly joined to save vampire mom.

That confrontation between the Master and Quinlan showed The Strain's lack of serious budget. It was anti-climactic for a confrontation that Quinlan had claimed he had been preparing for over a thousand years. His lack of planning allowed the Master to escape into the sewer.

Despite how lamely the final few minutes turned out, it was great seeing Quinlan's origins. That should have been the whole episode.

So ... We knew the worms carried the infection. Since when are the worms actual beings in and of themselves? Granted, I have proven my memory is pretty fucked with this show.

Thought it was a great episode. Had to keep quiet since I had seen it much earlier. The thing with Gus is that they're REALLY emphasizing the cultural aspect about family. Yeah, she's a vampire, but being uber religious and/or Catholic (they're Latinos) keeps them buried in denial.

Quinlan's origins were cool and straight from the book, as was the Master and the worms. I thought it was cool that the Master had control of the soldiers/SWAT team and made them use weapons even in their vampiric state.

I also liked Quinlan getting his hit in at the last second. I thought something would happen and he'd get denied but he didn't, although they've only bought themselves some more time.

No Dutch in this episode, unfortunately. :(

Refresh my memory - wasn't it a much bigger "organism" that left the previous body of the master to inhabit the current one?

OK so would the small worm that got away somehow be a diminished version of the master?

My guess is that the Master will be very weak until he recuperates.

Pretty much. They gotta find a new host body for him.

There is the question of how that tiny worm can contain the master's personality and memories.

We'll get there.

That worm was also pretty huge, but we'll get there...

Actually, both Gus and Angel are far worse. At least the son can claim youthful ignorance and being influenced by the adults around him. And just when I thought Gus was the worst, in walks Angel spouting stupid cliches and then giving in to the Gus stupidity. That whole scene would have been saved had Angle just quickly offed the mother and forced Gus out of his stupidity. No matter how it goes in the books, those two characters should be killed, or otherwise written off.

Loved the Quinlan back story, but I think we could use more. Just give every scene currently given to Gus and Angel to him. Easy.

Loved the end up until they just watched the worm slowly slither into the sewer drain. Even the dumbest person in NY would just squish the damn thing with their foot knowing it slithered away from the body of The Master.

I'm wondering if staging the story to accommodate the actress, or that's just how the story broke down.

Just caught this ep. If Quinlan was the main character on this show it would be 1000x better. I am annoyed by literally every human character except the old man.
