I'm wrapping up a project... so this is my reward for getting it done. Hopefully Monday. :(

I totally forgot what was going on when I started ep. 1. I had to stop and scan through ep. 10 from last season to catch up.

I also forgot to mention that each episode (I'm now on #5) is about 60-65 minutes long. I'm digging that. The more merrier.

Took me a while before I recognized Tom Wopat.

And two episodes in and they are really putting Longmire through the wringer.

Fantastic season. It goes by so quickly. :(

It shall return, though. I thought I had read that had been renewed for two more seasons.

I do hope they will finally explain Vic's mystery limp. It was fairly prominent in both episodes I saw.

I'm finding the "civil suit as plot driver" getting really annoying after awhile - feels like lazy writing to add an extra layer of drama to everything.

Also, still feels like they have no idea how to write for Cady Longmire: she swings between being plain dumb, constant weepiness and occasional shows of strength. Less a fully realized character than a series of vignettes.

Don't mean to be harsh since I love this show, but the above are the parts that have been dragging for me.

I hope so. They left a lot of shit open.

There is a ton of dissatisfaction on the Longmire Reddit and I can't say I disagree with them. Walt's hatred of Nighthorse and blaming him for everything has gotten old and is unprofessional. He acted like a dick in the deposition and treated his daughter like shit in ep 6. I'm starting to dislike Walt, which does not do wonders for repeated viewing.

It's a natural progression. He IS becoming unhinged, but we'll have to see if next season brings him back down.

I can't disagree with the criticism. I finally finished the season last night, and was a bit aggravated at all the plot threads left dangling. At this point I'd kinda like to see one last season to tie everything up.

I'm up to episode nine and I'm starting to wonder how I can keep watching a show when the worst character is the main one.

Netflix’s “Longmire” is saddling up for one last ride. The streaming service has ordered a 10-episode sixth and final season of the contemporary Western. Season 6 will debut in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand in 2017.

“We are grateful to Netflix for the opportunity to compose a closing chapter for these beloved characters that inspires lasting memories. Most importantly, we’re committed to delivering a dynamic and satisfying conclusion to our fans that rewards their longtime loyalty,” said executive producers Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny.

“We are proud to be the home of the ‘Longmire’ series, as so many viewers over the last few seasons have watched and been captivated by Walt’s journey,” said Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president of original content. “There has been no better team to work with on this show than Greer, Hunt and John, and their tremendous cast and crew, and we have every confidence that they will have a satisfying conclusion to this revered series. We are grateful to them and our friends at Warner Bros, who have been tremendous partners.”

“Longmire” began life on A&E, before being canceled after its third season and given a second life on Netflix. The series stars Robert Taylor as grizzled Walt Longmire, the unflappable sheriff of (fictional) Absaroka County in Wyoming. Katee Sackhoff co-stars as his protegé Victoria “Vic” Moretti, with Lou Diamond Phillips as Walt’s old friend Henry Standing Bear. “Longmire” is based on the “Walt Longmire” books by Craig Johnson.

“Longmire” is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television. Michael M. Robin also serves as executive producer.

Good. After season 5, they need to just wrap everything up and bring things to a peaceful conclusion. I hope Walt retires, makes peace with Nighthorse, and settles down with the shrink. Or someone new, at least.

Season 5 blew by... and I felt really sorry for Walt for not seeing past his own nose.

Looking forward to the final chapter.

Yeah, not thrilled that the show got low ratings even on Netflix. It's redemption time next season.

Do we know the ratings? I've never seen them.

About halfway through season 5. It doesn't grab me like it used to, but it's still a great show.

Now I can't find the source - but when I read that Netflix was canceling the show it had also mentioned that it had only been watched by, I want to say, less than 600,000 subscribers. Something like that.
