Anyone remember this classic "Miniseries" that aired several summers ago?

When the network first ran this disaster (in my opinion worse than even Childhood's End) in 1980 they actually ran it out of order and no one noticed. Bradbury had a short review for it--"[It was] just boring."

Re: Your favorite miniseries
I'm an old, old man and the mini-series I remember most fondly are the "old school" ones from the days before cable. "Roots", "Rich Man, Poor Man" (and its sequel), "Shogun", hooked me in a way that later series have never matched.

Re: Your favorite miniseries
Richard Chamberlain had to be in every miniseries in the 70's. It was the law.

But if we're talking solely old school network "event" miniseries' then The Stand.
There was kind of a fun era when I was younger when the networks were putting out Stephen King miniseries' on a semi-regular basis. I also remember swords-and-sandals stuff being pretty popular although I wouldn't be able to mention a single title now. The one I remember really liking was Wild Palms. Not sure I want to revisit it. |

The Lost Room The Stand Merlin Tin Man The 10th Kingdom Dune/Children of Dune V/Final Battle But my favorite would be the remake of BSG which was originally a mini-series. But of course I didn't actually see it until long after it aired on DVD. |

Re: Your favorite miniseries
I can't believe I forgot to list The Lost Room. I even just re-watched it a couple weeks ago.
I see I'm the only one to list Jonathan Strange. It just hit Netflix if you haven't seen it. Highly recommended if you like miniseries. |

V: The original was awesome. Forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't the original Salem's Lot air over a couple nights? Scared the crap out of me at 7 or so.
I'm probably mistaken on this too, but The Day After was really good, think it was a one and done but for some reason feel like I watched it over a couple nights? I'm 44 now and watched these a long time ago. |

Ultraviolet is quite excellent. I have the sense it was originally intended on being a TV series but only went as far as a 2-parter. |
Re: Your favorite miniseries
Michael Beck is awesome in this.

I'm still watching Centennial. Best portrayal of Native Americans on broadcast TV. Very respectful and accurate- better than Northern Exposure in that sense. Best look at the history of American expansionism and history of the mid/southwest territories. I'm shocked that I never heard of this show before a few days ago.

The greatest mini-series of all time is of course, I, Claudius, followed by Brideshead Revisited. Of course there's the two wonderful Le Carre mini-series, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Smiley's People.
I noticed someone mentioned the great reboot of Battlestar Galatica, but of course that's not a mini-series. |
