Like much of the rest of the season, the first half of this episode was boring filler. Hopefully things improve next season now that they cut the anchor chain. If only Tulip could have forgotten something back in town.

I enjoyed it also. I thought it started out kind of rough, but by the end I liked it quite a bit. Looking forward to the road trip starting next season! The ending with the entire town just being blown up and everyone dying was hilarious and unexpected.

So since they stretched the first issue of the comic book into an entire season, will season 2 be based around issue 2?

This season was rough and uneven. I have no idea why anyone that hasn't read Preacher comics would stick around.
I did enjoy the music selection a great deal and AMC spent serious money on it. Wasn't that a Rolling Stones' song there at the end? Licensing them for anything is very expensive.

We saw the church blow up when the Indian mascot's cigarette ignited the methane.
In the later diner scene there was a tv new report that said the entire city of Annville was destroyed in an explosion.
I suppose there could be a few survivors if they were out of town, but, yeah, it looks like Emily, Sheriff Root, Odin Quincannon, Donnie, and all of the others are dead.

Finally, the road trip! It was a rough season, but still overall I found it fun and entertaining. Not anywhere as near as good as the comic but I've seen worse.

Excellent music and cinematography kind of covered up the mess this show turned out to be. I think it could've been done in half the episodes and ended up with much better pacing. It just meandered all over the place. I'll record it next year and just wait for the reviews. If they aren't far better, then I'll probably not tune in.

It does seem a little odd they invested so much time into introducing all these characters in Annville that ultimately all get killed at the end of the season just for the sake of doling out VERY sparse details about Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy's backstories.
So what was up with that scene showing DeBlanc returning from Hell without Fiore? Are those characters in the comic books or created for the show?

That's the premise, yes, but it goes in some pretty bizarre directions. Of course, Arseface was handled much differently in the comics, and his father, Sheriff Root, was a much more unpleasant character who treated his son badly and met a rather twisted fate. In other words, just about anything might happen.

I just watched this last night and was like WTF?!?! So is this basically true? The comic is more about the 3 of them on a road trip/quest to find God (literally)?

Sorry she wasn't dressed to the level that you would bang her, brah. I guess they just wanted to have an actor look like their character.
