I steered clear of this thread until I watched the first four eps, and though I am loving this I am honestly surprised at the overall 'meh' vibe from others.
I find this show extremely fascinating, and I love the way the timeline sometimes flips around.
To each his/her own, but I'm digging this show...a lot.

Mr. Robot is different (definetly this season) and it's not for everyone (I still can't get anyone I know to watch it), but I like it cause it so different compared to most shows on TV today.

Different is good. Laborious to watch is bad.
I've watched many films and TV shows which were "different" and felt engaged the whole time. Mr. Robot feels like a chore right now after its first season felt exhilarating. That's a failing of the show, not the viewers.

I'm hanging in there.....barely. The narrative just isn't working at this point and I frankly don't see the point of any of the new characters they've introduced. Being esoteric cause you think you're smarter than the audience has been done before....and hasn't turned out well.

For me, just one change that would improve the show tremendously is editing each episode down from 65 minutes to around 45 - there's a lot of fat to trim, before and after filming. A tighter 45 minutes for these episodes would help out a lot of the issues I have. Way too bloated as they are now.

I'm hoping all of this stuff with Elliot and Mr. Robot will payoff later in the season, so I'm willing to just go with the story right now. But if it's gets too preachy like The Sopranos and they're just fucking with the audience, that's when it gets insulting.

Every episode this season would have been stronger with tighter editing and faster pacing. The ponderous direction is adding a steep cost to watching these episodes.
Esmail has too much control over every aspect of Mr. Robot. There is obviously no one telling him 'no' over these issues.

I like this season, but yeah, 100% agree with slop101.
I guess Esmail tried to reference The Seventh Seal with the chess scene...
There's a Vulture article, after the first episode, where they talk about a theory on where Elliot is right now. It's similar, but more extended, to what was commented in spoilers a few days ago here.

Season 2 HAS been a chore so far. Though the basketball 'yard' & diner/cafeteria (he never sits in the same place) scenes do make more sense now.
I'm not going to claim I'm going to stop watching though.

Has anyone else checked out the 8 min+ version of the "The Careful Massacre of the Bourgeoisie"? Worth it for the final few seconds alone. I had a boombox almost exactly like the one that gets splattered with blood. Slightly different speaker tops but it was a JVC.

I have really liked this season, and the last episode was really fantastic. I had no idea anyone disliked this season until I skimmed through this thread. Oh well. Different strokes.

Last night's episode was a little better. Being 50 minutes instead of 65 certainly helped. The shootout was every effectively filmed.
There's definitely something "off" about where Elliot is and what he's up to with those guys.

Decided to catch up last night. I was happy to see it was shorter. Still a lot of drag. The framing is really starting to get annoying. Every character lives in the bottom corner of the frame.

Starting to think that Mr. Robot might be in danger of getting cancelled. Last nights episode didn't even rate in the Top 100 cable shows. It's ratings are approaching hash marks.
Huge ratings collapse for a critically acclaimed show.

Yeah, if this was airing during a busy TV season, I'd drop it like a hot potato. As it is, this is maybe one of 3 shows a week I'm watching right now, so I'm only sticking with it because there's not much else going on.

Next week is make it or break it for me. This last one felt like work to get through even with the shortened run time.

Re: Mr. Robot (USA) - Season 2 Discussion Thread - premieres 7/13/16
I guess I'm sticking with it because I never felt it was one of the greatest shows last year. I really enjoyed Season 1, but I never put it next to my current favorite shows like 'The American's' or 'Game of Thrones.' It is a show that I catch on DVR when I have time, and even though I never know what is going on in the show, I still enjoy it and like all of the characters too. But I do understand why fans are bailing.
I do wonder about the current TV model when you see ratings for Mr. Robot, and how it can sustain itself? I know 'The American's is the same way as it doesn't get great ratings, but is critically acclaimed. I worry that these networks start bailing on shows like this for more reality shows and guilty pleasure shows.
