How do you watch your television programs?
Starting this poll/thread again. Thanks to the Mod for dumping the last one.
How do you watch your television programs? Whether it's sports, news or scripted TV shows. For me, I watch 90% of my stuff on TV via records on my DVR on Directv. Sometimes I will watch it on TV via my Roku (Hulu, HBO Go, Netflix) When I'm away like an vacation or during downtime at work, I'll watch it on my Ipad. Never watch on my phone. I'll only watch YouTube videos on my phone. |
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
tv with cable.

Re: How do you watch your television programs?
Cable TV for me, with DVR. I try to watch my shows within 1-5 days. In other words, I don't stockpile a bunch of episodes and binge.
I like to discuss TV shows with people (and it's a good conversation starter), so I always try to stay current with my shows. |
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
Mostly live on cable (Uverse), on Hulu and Netflix. I don't watch many shows regularly.

Re: How do you watch your television programs?
DVR with OTA antenna and Netflix on Apple TVs (I have like 20 other devices that'll run it too but most of the time it's on the ATVs).
I haven't watched anything live in years and I love it. I pretty much have no idea when my shows are on. I just watch them when I get to them on the DVR. |
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
I use pretty much all of the methods listed except the smartphone (too small), and the "friend's house". It just depends on the show, and where I am.
|
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
I primarily use semi-live broadcast (ie. watching shows with a 15-20 minutes delay recorded on the dvr) as a weedout filter to determine which current shows I'm willing to follow.
If I'm not willing to watch new first-run episodes semi-live or within 12 hours or so, then eventually that show is dropped. |
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
3-30 years later via DVD
|
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
I'm still using a MythTV setup, with an antenna hooked up to my server and PCs connected to the TVs. I also use Netflix on PS3 and currently HBO GO on an Amazon Fire (stupid Comcast doesn't allow HBO GO on PS3).

Re: How do you watch your television programs?
I ditched DVR awhile back. All the shows I regularly watch are either available almost right away on streaming or On Demand. If it's not, I'll wait for it to get to some streaming service.
|
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
95% Cable via TV
5% streamed via PS3 (Netflix/Hulu/Crackle) I still like using the DVR since many programs on Xfinity On Demand don't allow FF through commercials. If I can find a way to successfully stream live in-market MLB and NHL, I would cut the cord now and just use my PS3 and/or an Apple TV. I'm aware of a couple solutions for doing this but they all go against ToS of the MLB.TV and I don't feel like losing the money to find out I'm blocked. |
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
I watch everything on a TV. Sports (NFL, MLB, NCAAB tournament) live either when I'm home (fiber) or at a restaurant/bar, everything else (>90%) at my convenience via Roku on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, or Crunchyroll.
|
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
Cable or DVR for most of them. I or one of the kids have a bunch on DVD/BR; Castle, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Big Bang, The Americans, Blacklist.
|
Re: How do you watch your television programs?
Satellite/DVR for live sports and TV shows I like to watch live. Sometimes while I'm working I'll watch shows on my iPad through Hulu, Netflix, or cable network apps. I do other streaming via Amazon Fire stick or Apple TV depending on which room I'm in.
