Season 7 may be delayed. Article says it's due to weather reasons for the story. They are going to start production later.
That story mentions that the five remaining original adult leads will be making $500,000 per episode next season. I wonder : Does that only apply to episodes that they actually appear in? I assume not since they may not know how the episodes are edited and it would be weird to get paid $500,000 for an episode they appear in for one scene and then nothing for the next.
Along the same lines I was wondering about the actor who plays Sam. Did he only get paid for the three episodes he appeared in this season or did he get a full salary? It's got to be hard if your pay gets cut by 70% because the writers gave your character the second-longest boat ride in the history of Westeros.

I would prefer a longer wait and then an extended 13/15 episode final season.

Then the actor who played Gendry is probably SOL. He is probably still rowing somewhere near Meereen by now. You can probably put Podrick in his scenes and I would be hard pressed to tell the difference. I imagine all of these pay issues are spelled out in their contracts which are probably studio friendly. Like the Walking Dead, you try and hold out for more money and they will have no qualms about killing your character off the show.

Perhaps they make flat salaries ($x million for the season) and the article simply divided by the number of episodes to give an alternative statistic.

Yeah I'd think you'd negotiate a flat salary for the season, especially for this show where outside of a few, anyone could die at any time.

The figure was initially given by anonymous sources as $500,000 per episode, with no further breakdowns, or total season pay rates.

They can, but it costs money. There's no need to waste money doing all kinds of tomfoolery when mother nature will take care of it for free.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E10) -- "The Winds of Winter" -- 6/26/16

Just got caught up. Two questions... When Sansa escaped from Ramsay, how did she survive jumping from atop the castle wall? Wasn't that the same distance that killed Ramsay's girlfriend when she fell? Sansa wasn't even scraped up. And when the waif stabbed Arya in the gut, how did she survive such a serious wound (let alone endure the pain so well that she could run and fight)? Even if the actress that Arya ran to stitched up the cuts, Arya must have had internal bleeding that would require modern day surgery, no?

Snow saved Sansa. Magical medicine saved Arya.

Didn't Sansa and a guy (I forget who) jump from the wall and then run into the woods? I'm talking about that jump. Shouldn't it have killed/injured her? It killed Ramsay's girlfriend. Did the show say magic was used to save Arya or is that a guess?

The girl fell to the ground while Sansa and Theon landed in the snow drift at the bottom of the wall. I don't recall how clear that was made, although the snow was visible, and I may be remembering it being spelled out more directly in the book, but that's the basic explanation.

Oh! Real snow. I thought he meant Jon Snow saved Sansa. Ha!

This is the kind of stuff you have to roll with in order to properly enjoy fantasy/sci-fi, or else you'll get too hung up on them and won't be able to properly enjoy the narrative.

Agreed. I didn't think the writers had offered any sort of explanation, though, realistic or otherwise. I'm glad I was wrong!

Just got caught up with HBO NOW. Great season and especially great final two episodes.

I've been waiting for something or someone to show up that could possibly defeat the Night King and now it is obvious:

Also because the show is now airing in the summer, it won't qualify for next years Emmy's as well.

I'm sure that the Blu-ray box set for season 7 will be cheaper because of fewer episodes...right?

uhhh, no. True Detective was only 8 episodes and their set costs about the same as Game of Thrones.

This is HBO we're talking about. They know people will pay big bucks for Game of Thrones.

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E10) -- "The Winds of Winter" -- 6/26/16

I just rewatched this last night as I miss GoT. I LOVE this exchange and reveal:

Ellaria Sand: The Lannisters have declared war on House Tyrell. They have declared war on Dorne. We must be allies now if we wish to survive.
Olenna Tyrell: Cersei stole the future from me. She killed my son. She killed my grandson. She killed my granddaughter. Survival is not what I'm after now.
Ellaria Sand: You're absolutely right. I chose the wrong words. It is not survival I offer. It is your heart's desire.
[Ellaria rings a bell]
Olenna Tyrell: [smiles] And what is my heart's desire?
Ellaria Sand: Vengeance.
[pause]
Ellaria Sand: Justice.
[Varys appears. He looks at Olenna gravely]
Lord Varys: Fire and Blood.
