Just gonna say that was one of the best episodes ever done on Game of Thrones and
Spoiler:
I cried like a f****** baby at the end. I'm still shaking from that whole sequence. Wow.

Yup, the Hodor theory comes true also. Jesus, that episode was a punch in the gut.

Possibly the toughest death in this whole series. The others shocked you, but this one you really felt.

Wow. I don't even know where to begin with this one. The revelation regarding the children of the forest, which puts a twist on everything going back to the Battle for the Dawn and the pact with the First Men, would have inspired endless discussion alone even without those final 10 minutes. Episode really put forth some huge implications regarding the story, its past and future.

Poor Summer. Poor Hodor.

I wonder if that's what George R.R. Martin has in mind for the books?

Someone actually guess that Hodor was "hold the door"!?

I think the most common Hodor theory I had seen was that he warged into an animal when he was younger and the animal died with him in it so he didn't quite come back to his body.

On further reflection...did Bran cause that and change the past? Or is that what always happened to Hodor for reasons beyond the character's understanding (destiny? fate?) and Bran was just watching like all the other times?

Hah, no, not that specific, just that Bran caused him to become what he became.

So that answers my other question then? Bran did affect the past?

I hope Hodor and the direwolf don't come back as white walkers...are there any 4 legged white walkers? The horses?

If you watched the episode this answered pretty clearly

I guess I am just trying to wrap my head around it. In present day he warged into Hodor to get him to hold the door...but since he was in the past, he warged into past hodor at the same time?

Re: Game of Thrones (S6E05) -- "The Door" -- 5/22/16

copypasta:
The girl was screaming into Bran's ear
He can hear it in the dream
He warged Hodor in the dream, connected to Hodor in the cave, into dragging him out of the cave
He began to lose control as they left Hodor at the door
The girl was screaming "Hold the door!"
Bran could hear it while still warging Hodor in the dream
It was the only thing they needed him to do
It was his last purpose
As Hodor died, his last thought was "Hold the door"
Which was connected, through warging, into his own self in the dream
As he died, his last thought was imprinted so hard into the dream of himself, that it took over entirely.
Hodor's last purpose went into his past and became his only purpose.
His only purpose from then on was to make it to that point and hold the door.
