The storyline has certainly taken shape over the last few episodes, and now the show has some direction.

^^^
Agreed, it was sort of floundering in the beginning. But over the past few weeks it has really come together. The revelation about the possessed has changed the show dynamic. And I also want that redhead kid to die a gruesome death. |

Yup, hate him too.
And agree, the revelation about the possessed was just pure awesomeness. So it makes you think, what will happen with the reverend now? it was easier once it was a show about good vs bad. Now the options are almost infinite. Great show! |

They just announced a few days ago that Hoon Lee (Job from Banshee) will be joining the cast for season 2. Apparently they have already started production of the 2nd season.

Re: Outcast (Cinemax) -- From EP Robert Kirkman -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 6/3/1
That was a great season finale.
Really liked this show, and I'm trying to avoid checking the comic, but I have some theories about him, that would explain his daughter and all that stuff. First Cinemax show I watch, so now I'm thinking about watching another show from there. |
Re: Outcast (Cinemax) -- From EP Robert Kirkman -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 6/3/1
Just caught the finale. At this point Kyle has to be on the reverend's side regarding Sidney. He kidnapped his daughter and tried to imprison the both of them. He should lay hands on him and turn him into a vegetable.
Am I the only one who missed the fact that the redhead was Kyle's sister? Seemed like they never mentioned that until the last episode. This show got good and really came together by the end.

What redhead?
Her family adopted Kyle. They mentioned that during the show. |

For those who have wondered what happened to this show. Season 2 will air Summer 2018 (July) Looks like Cinemax is just burning it off. The cast is no longer under contract. Is there a future for Outcast beyond the upcoming second season? It is expensive, and, because its U.S. airing comes more than a year after the season was filmed, the options on the cast have long lapsed. Still, Antholis said he had recently discussed Outcast’s prospects with executive producer David Alpert. “We’re trying to give it its best platform,” Antholis said. “Ramping up our new slate of shows, and all the promotion that’s going into it, hopefully, will give it a runway.” As part of the effort, Cinemax will replay the first season of Outcast, which premiered in 2016, on Cinemax and make it available on HBO Go and HBO Now leading to the second season. |
Re: Outcast (Cinemax) -- From EP Robert Kirkman -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 6/3/1
It's been mentioned a few times here and there that TPTB at Cinemax have changed, and this bunch wants to get the channel's programming back to the "Strike Back" type of programming the previous bunch dismissed. "Quarry" was dropped after the first season, but "Outcast" was already in the can and they were effectively stuck with it.

The second season already played outside of the USA.

FYI, Season 2 premieres on Cinemax July 20th: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2...0411cinemax01/
Plagued by demons since childhood, Kyle is on a journey to find answers - but what he uncovers could mean the end of life as we know it. The suspense-horror series OUTCAST returns for its ten-episode second season FRIDAY, JULY 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on CINEMAX. Continuing to probe the mystery of what lies behind the town of Rome's supernatural manifestations, and why they are drawn to Kyle, the show explores how people cope with extreme circumstances while protecting the ones they love. OUTCAST is created and executive produced by Robert Kirkman ("The Walking Dead") and based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta. Patrick Fugit ("Gone Girl," HBO's "Cinema Verité") stars as Kyle Barnes, a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. With the help of Reverend Anderson, played by Philip Glenister ("Kingdom of Heaven"), a preacher who believes he is a soldier in God's holy war against the forces of evil, Kyle tries to protect those he holds most dear, now that the otherworldly threats prove greater in scope and number than anticipated. His struggle will grow into a fight for all of his hometown, as he discovers the haunting secrets of his own past. Other cast members in the second season include: Wrenn Schmidt ("The Looming Tower," HBO's "Boardwalk Empire") as Kyle's adopted sister, Megan Holter, a child psychologist who makes it her mission to fix the people around her; Reg E. Cathey (HBO's "The Wire") as Chief Giles, Rome's chief of police, who has seen enough to know there's some truth to his friend Rev. Anderson's assertions about demons; Kate Lyn Sheil ("House of Cards," HBO's "High Maintenance") as Kyle's former wife, Allison Barnes, who has lingering doubts about what happened in their marriage; Julia Crockett ("Law & Order: Criminal Intent") as Kyle's mother, Sarah Barnes, whose apparent mental illness tainted his childhood; David Denman ("13 Hours") as Megan's husband, Mark Holter, a by-the-book small-town cop whose temper can get him in trouble; and Brent Spiner ("Star Trek: The Next Generation") as Sidney, whose dapper appearance and smiling demeanor hide malevolence. The first season of OUTCAST was hailed as a "suspense-laden, psychological examination of inner shadows" by Variety, which praised Patrick Fugit's "poignant portrayal." OUTCAST is based on the Skybound/Image comic title by creator Robert Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta. The series is produced by FOX International Studios for CINEMAX; created and executive produced by Robert Kirkman; executive produced by showrunner Chris Black, David Alpert, Sharon Tal Yguado and Sue Naegle. |

Re: Outcast (Cinemax) -- From EP Robert Kirkman -- Series Thread
My DVR shows the Friday 9pm Central slot to be a repeat of the first season finale, and other slots a repeat of the same. I had to plug the repeat in myself, though perhaps it will be updated later.

Re: Outcast (Cinemax) -- From EP Robert Kirkman -- Series Thread
Why this show gets so little attention is beyond me. I loved the first season and looking forward, finally, to watching this again.
Grateful a 2nd season was even granted but I wouldn't expect a 3rd unless ratings really catch fire. |

Grateful a 2nd season was even granted but I wouldn't expect a 3rd unless ratings really catch fire. But yeah a serialized horror show getting virtually zero attention here is a little surprising. But being that it's on a pay channel like Cinemax most here probably don't have is why this thread is so dead. |
