The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Supergirl is keeping her Monday home. The CW is the final broadcast network to unveil its 2016-17 schedule, and the ex-CBS drama will retain its Monday-at-8 pm timeslot, where it will lead into Jane the Virgin. Also of note: The network is plugging in new series No Tomorrow and Frequency after its two biggest hits, The Flash and Arrow, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively; Supernatural is shifting to Thursdays following Legends of Tomorrow; and The Originals is being held until midseason. Also on tap for midseason: Returning series iZombie, The 100 and Reign, as well as new entry Riverdale. All told, the The CW’s fall schedule looks like this; new shows are in CAPS, click for details. (And for handy reference, here are ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC‘s fall lineups.) MONDAY 8 pm Supergirl 9 pm Jane the Virgin TUESDAY 8 pm The Flash 9 pm NO TOMORROW WEDNESDAY 8 pm Arrow 9 pm FREQUENCY THURSDAY 8 pm Legends of Tomorrow 9 pm Supernatural (new timeslot) FRIDAY 8 pm The Vampire Diaries 9 pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend NOT RETURNING NEXT SEASON: America’s Next Top Model, Containment and Significant Mother |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Now that Supergirl has moved to The CW, the network is gearing up for an epic four-way crossover with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Ahead of its upfront presentation on Thursday, CW chief Mark Pedowitz touted Supergirl’s move from CBS to The CW. “Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December,” he told reporters, later following up by calling the event “our biggest one ever.” The news is unsurprising. It’s become an annual tradition for Greg Berlanti’s super series to cross over in the fall. It started when Arrow first introduced Grant Gustin as Barry Allen in season 2 of Arrow, following up the next season with a crossover between Arrow and The Flash. The two shows then crossed over with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow ahead of its launch, while The Flash also crossed over with Supergirl on CBS. |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
I'll be watching Supergirl, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. I'm bummed that Riverdale won't be premiering until midseason. It is the only pilot this season that I was excited to see and now I have to wait even longer... I'll also be watching iZombie and The 100 when they return in 2017.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
While I'll miss it in the fall, keeping the episode count down on IZombie is probably a good thing creatively. Flash and Arrow could probably benefit from that too, but they are too (CW) popular to not get full season orders.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Just The Flash for me. I've abandoned Arrow & Legends of Tomorrow and don't mind watching Supernatural a year behind on blu-ray. I'm looking forward to Riverdale though.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Looking forward to the massive 4 way crossover with Supergirl, the Flash, Arrow and Legends.
That will be insane. I'm guessing there will be some here who won't watch it because they can't keep up with all 4 shows simultaneously. A few of these shows on The CW will have to get shorter seasons because of the huge midseason inventory. Legends, Vampire Diaries, Crazy Ex for sure. I'll be checking out Frequency and Riverdale. I'll have to see a trailer for No Tomorrow first. Vampire Diaries and Crazy Ex on Fridays is a weird pairing. |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
It seems like practically everything I'm interested in, at the CW and elsewhere, is being held for mid-season. I can watch almost everything in the Fall live if I want, as there's almost no timeslot competition b for me between the 5 networks.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Flash is my favorite show on TV right now. I'll keep watching Supergirl, too. LOT kind of lost some steam with me.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
The wait for iZombie is going to be eternal. However, if it keeps it on the air and not canned, so be it.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
The CW is literally my home now it seems for TV, aside from HBO and Starz. Grimm from NBC, Once Upon a Time from ABC (if I actually continue), The Big Bang Theory from CBS (needs to end and no guarantee I'll watch it all), and nothing from FOX. So that's 0 to 1 show per network. While The CW has Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, and then mid-season The 100 and The Originals.
I wonder if The Originals moving to mid-season means this will be a shorter season and possibly the last? I feel it's about time as Claus has pretty much ran out of newer more threatening villains to take on. Either way, not a single NEW show from any of these networks interested me enough to try them. |

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
I'm dreading the four-way superhero crossover since it will likely affect all shows and some of them can barely manage running their own arcs.

Will have to watch any CW On Demand. This area still doesn't have the channel in HD (but the On Demand ones are HD).

Just curious, so judging by your comments over the last couple of days, you're only interested in sci-fi, fantasy and comic themed shows?
This summer, the only show that I'm interested in is Teen Wolf and it hasn't even got an official premiere date yet. I read on MTV that Dylan (the guy who plays Stiles) apparently got hurt on the set of making the new Maze Runner movie so maybe that has something to do with it and it seems to infer that Teen Wolf may not premiere till Fall. My Trackt.tv account at https://trakt.tv/users/chaoxide suggests that my favorites are: http://i.imgur.com/0m4ZELW.png and the last 30 days at a glance (on the dashboard) shows: http://i.imgur.com/yZXVp6h.png |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Hmm, can they use Brandon Routh to guest star on Supergirl as her cousin now?
|
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Disappointing that they are moving Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to the Friday night graveyard. That screams to me that they are only keeping it because of the critical acclaim, but have no intention on promoting it or growing the audience.

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Seven shows in the fall. A couple later. Yep, CW has a lot of shows. All other network stations are lucky to have one show and two at best.
Appears the CW sure knows what I am drawn to. (Magic, Supernatural, Time Travel, Fantasy, comic based, powers etc...) |

I'm rewatching Smallville and I'd love to see Welling return in red & blue. The timing/age kinda works too between Kara & Clark and the time Smallville has been off the air and how long Clark would have been Superman. It'd also be interesting to see what the Berlanti team could do with a character we all already know. Also would be appropriate given Smallville was CW's flagship show for years. |

I'm hoping that the crossover somehow allows a Calista Flockhart/Jessie L. Martin reunion.

He can't play both? The shows aren't set in the same universe anyway.
I would prefer a Mel Gibson-Danny Glover Maverick type moment between the two. |

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Some news for watchers of the CW in Chicago. It looks like WGN will no longer be the CW affiliate. WPWR will be the new station for the CW in Chicago. If this means less preemptions for sports this will be a good thing, but I think WPWR carries some sports so I'm not sure.
In a rare change of network affiliations in Chicago, the CW Network will move this fall from Tribune Media WGN-Channel 9 to Fox-owned WPWR-Channel 50, sources said Sunday. The switch, expected to be announced Monday, will return “Chicago’s Very Own” to an independent station with a strictly local programming lineup, starting in September. Tribune Media still owns CW affiliates in 12 other markets, including New York and Los Angeles. Formed in 2006 as a joint venture between Warner Bros. Entertainment and CBS, the network includes such primetime shows as “The Flash” and “Jane The Virgin.” In addition to two hours in primetime each weeknight, CW also programs five hours of children’s programming on Saturday mornings. Sources said the move to WPWR, low-rated sister station of WFLD-Channel 32, is expected to mean a shift of less than $4 million in revenue. |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
WGN losing CW is huge. What are they going to put on? WGN America programming? 90's reruns?
|
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
You'd think The CW would be smart enough not to keep Supergirl up against Gotham on Monday nights...isn't it in their best interest not to program a Warners series up against another Warners series...unless the hope is FOX will cancel Gotham and they can pick it up too. ;)

Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
In for Supergirl, Arrow, Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow and iZombie.
And yeah - what the hell is WGN going to show now ? The only other thing I watch on there is the morning news. |

Salem is on WGN America, which is a completely different network. The WGN he's talking about in Chicago is a local station, which formerly was the CW affiliate in that area. |

Only show I really can't wait for is The 100.. the rest I might binge watch some time later in life. heh

However, if they ever go with the Crisis storyline like The Flash seems to be hinting at, I could see Welling's version being involved. I would also like to see Constantine show up again on one of the shows, but that's not likely. :( |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Yeah, you'd just have to set all that aside and take Clark. No reason it couldn't be a different universe/Earth like Supergirl.
|
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
I really don't want to see Welling appear in the Arrowverse. There is no chance he appears as Clark Kent or Superman, that is for sure. Heck, I would rather see Brandon Routh's Superman appear.

The CW will sign new deal with Netflix that will make the entire season available around 2 weeks after season ends in May. However, they have severed their partnership with Hulu. No more episodes will be posted. If you only stream their shows or missed an episode, you will have to use the CW website, app or on demand through your provider, which has commercials. |
Re: The CW Fall 2016-17 Schedule Announced
Just a reminder, that if you watch the CW out of Chicago, it will no longer be on WGN. It will be on WPWR effective now (Sep. 1st). You may need to update your DVR if you have your CW series set to only record on WGN.
