I haven't heard too much about this show. Read a short blurb about it in Entertainment Weekly. Looks like a French political thriller based on that footage in the trailer. I don't think this will be much a draw here, especially since it's in French too.

Looks good, I'm in.
I always delay watching stuff with subtitles, but then almost always really enjoy whatever it is. (Solyaris, anyone? )

I caught a couple of episodes of this and have a question:

Spoiler:
Why did the wife think she had the hand condition as well? I thought the mayor's illness was neurologically based. It makes no sense why she would have to stop performing as a concert musician.

Other than that, I've found the first two episodes watchable.

Any females watching this show? 'Cos I wanna know

Spoiler:
if they think Lucas Barrès (Benoît Magimel) is attractive or not. He seems to be able to bed any woman he wants... but to me, he gives off this creepy "Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter" vibe.

The series got horrible reviews in France, but I'm liking it so far... kind of a smaller-scale House of Cards set in France's second-largest city.

I wrapped this up the other day. It was just ok. It does run out of steam and gives us a cliffhanger type of ending. What threw me off was that it's only 8 episodes.

As the municipal elections approach in Marseille, Robert Taro, the city's Mayor for the last twenty years, prepares his last coup: push through the vote for the construction of a casino in the historic center of the Marina. Nothing has been left to chance, and his successor, Lucas Barrès, is already designated. But the latter's all-consuming ambition and the secret interests of the city's leaders, whether they come from its opulent villas or from the cities of the northern suburbs, impede the Mayor's plans. The race for Mayor becomes a power struggle where no holds are barred. Only one question arises: how far will they go? Magnificent and hypnotic city that leaves nobody indifferent, Marseille unleashes the greatest passions and inevitably the worst crimes. Marseille. To conquer it, they are willing to destroy it.
Season 2 drops tomorrow.

I was shocked that it got season 2. I did think the first was ok, but since they ended it the way they did -- well, I guess there may be some resolution after all. To the queue!
