The IMDB seems to indicate that there will be two episodes on "Finale Night", -is this the case? I'm trying to make my episode count work and my DVR isn't up to that point yet.

I too think they are setting up a mummy storyline, yet not committing unless there is a fourth season. They have to finish up with Dracula first, then the gang heads off to Cairo. Be neat if the mummy is walking around like normal person, handsome, seducing Vanessa because she's the reincarnation of Princess Ananka. As the resident femme fatale she just can't catch a break.

I have two episodes showing up in my DVR to-do list on 6-19, so that looks to be the case. "The Perpetual Night" and "The Blessed Dark" is what they're called.

Maybe they don't to compete with the Game of Theones finale the next week?

Re: Penny Dreadful (Showtime) -- Season 3 Thread -- 5/1/16

Another superb episode. Good to see the Bride looking more like she will get what she deserves, although i doubt it will be as simple as that. Dorian's fate could be anywhere at this point. He has finally caught on to the fact that he has surrounded himself with people that would gladly kill him any second, so he should be looking to get that painting hidden. I get the feeling his story might be coming to an end though. I will be happy when that main prostitute gets done in. She is the kind of character that you immediately dislike.

And a very interesting end to the show seeing where Vanessa has allowed herself to be taken. I am curious to see if they kill off the Dracula character or if the door will be left open for a return. I guess the story might be played out by seasons end, but always good to keep a villain as interesting as that around if possible.

I don't like this lack of a season 4 pick up. But the show is still stellar.

Wes Studi has been a great addition to this show. I hope he sticks around.

Showtime's website called Sunday's episode the series finale, but they have since changed it ro season finale.

Typo, or did someone jump the gun?

That will be an outright tragedy if they end the show.

I hope they're not getting rid of it to have a free slot for Twin Peaks next year.

Seems weird that it would be cancelled. It is a co-production with Sky so it is not like Showtime is footing the bill for the entire series.

Re: Penny Dreadful (Showtime) -- Season 3 Thread -- 5/1/16

If this show got cancelled it would be a a disgrace. Its the best show on TV by a long way. GoT take the limelight, but even a weaker episode of Penny Dreadful will have superb acting and production values. I seriously doubt this show is not coming back. I expect it might run for about 5 seasons before calling it a day, but i personally would love for this to keep coming back as long as the writing, production and acting keeps being this strong.

Eva Green's Twitter thinks this Sunday is the series finale. Ugh.

Last season, Showtime announced it had been renewed on June 16 which was well before the season 2 finale date of July 5th.

Re: Penny Dreadful (Showtime) -- Season 3 Thread -- 5/1/16

Well i would be happy for Season 4 to be the last if a near end is in sight. Get one last great series out before calling it a day. After Hannibal getting cancelled i would be seriously pissed to see this one come to an early end. Amazing that so many people watch so much shit on TV and avoid the true great series that are out there.

If Vanessa has submitted to the Dragon, how can the show go on? This has to be the last season, no?

I agree that Wes Studi has been a great addition to the show. The lady friend of Vanessas pictured above has also been a great new character. It would be a real shame to not see more of them in a new season.

Not sure what her point is but more of her would be good.

Yeah, she's saf, but she looks too "modern." Her hair, demeanor, and overall appearance maker look like she's from 2016.

Maybe they're going to be bringing H. G. Wells' The Time Machine into the mix.

As to the point of the character, she seems to be a replacement for Lyle, an expert on mythology who can dump information when necessary to the plot.

Phenomenal series. Now we know why everyone went radio silent. Definitely in my top 10 of all time.

I thought Vanessa may be coming to an end.....but I also though that's why they introduced Van Helsing's hot niece to replace her. So many strands left hanging.

After reading that interview, I'm starting to hope there will be some kind of spinoff with Van Helsing's niece.

Yeah, I really don't understand why John Logan couldn't have just stepped down as show runner and considered this the end of the "Vanessa" arc.

Re: Penny Dreadful (Showtime) -- Season 3 Thread -- 5/1/16

That just really felt rushed. Like, what was the point of Vanessa giving in to the evil and then sounding pretty resolute to going up against /deal with the good guys coming at them, only to just so easily give up and just say fuck it, shoot me.

So many other loose ends. There was no point to the women's lib angle. Dorian just was there. Dr. Jekyll was in there why? The Monster's story even seemed like it was going some where different but than nah, dawg. whatevs.

As hot as she was, the niece was essentially pointless here as well. Can't wait to see the epilogue where wolfman and wolfapache are chopping wood on some indian reservation.
