Fantastic start - flying out of the gate.

Love how Jonah is now an underling again.

The funniest show on TV right now.

It's amazing how consistent the quality of the writing and jokes are.

Even the less smart/more crude jokes work.

Gary: "My bowling coach use to say that a tie was like kissing your sister"
Selina: "Well this feels like my sister took a shit on my chest"

Maybe the line of the night, and there were many great ones as always.

Good laughs, but the writing was just a bit more forced and a bit less sharp than previous seasons with Iannucci as the show-runner.

the excessivness of the graphic language, which I don't find offensive, unfortunately brings the writing down to a sophmoric level - it's like 'ew like at me, I can say whatever I want' but ultimately just comes across as prissy and self indulgent.

I saw a handful of episodes in Season 1 & enjoyed it. I just somehow never kept up with it.

Would this new season still be enjoyable for someone who hasn't seen Seasons 2, 3 & 4?

I didn't know if it could stand alone.

Nope. It's pretty serialized and episode 1 picks up post-election night. A lot of the character development and storyline wouldn't make sense.

"She's changed her mind more times than a paedophile at Disneyland"

You just know that Catherine's recordings are going to wind up in the wrong hands, and the numerous offensive comments will be leaked to the public.

I'm pretty sure Amy's sister said she worked at CVS and not CBS.

Okay, now I'm getting a little worried. Still some good laughs, thanks to the amazing cast, but like I pointed out with last week's episode, the writing just doesn't have the same snap as in previous seasons.

It's so blatant that's what's going to happen. Another reason why I'm just not feeling it this season. Is it too late to bring back Armando?

Yea, I realize that - just that we didn't see a conclusion to that with Dan finding out.

The show feels pretty consistent in quality to me.

Agreed Coral - this episode was very good, and compared to Silicon Valley which is the same old tired shtick

I'm enjoying it, and it's still funny, but no, it's definitely a step down and not as sharp as the previous seasons.

Terrible show. Still nothing more than a lazy The Thick of It wannabe. Of course, political satires aren't exactly as prevalent as reality shows are in this country so U.S. audiences don't know any better. This show is to political satire what The Big Bang Theory is to geek culture. Just dreadful all-around.

You do know that Veep's creator and head writer for its first 4 seasons was the same guy also who created and wrote "Thick of It", right?
