I actually appreciate Hardwick now for how he spices up Talking Dead with his enthusiasm.
It's definitely a fan podcast given a bigger outlet. Unfortunately, unlike the other "official" after-shows, it doesn't have guests from the show, and based on the way GOT is shot, it probably never will (unless there's a convention in town). For the moment, its certainly the lesser of these shows.

Andy Greenwald is a writer. It's not as if he has been practicing his schtick on tv for over a decade.

I'm hoping to see what happens when Davos finds out Melisandre burned the little girl who taught him to read.

So, has Melisandre ever been shown not wearing the necklace before?

He already knows. Hated how they completely glossed over any interaction he had with Mel or reaction to the death of the guy he's devoted the last 20 years of his life to. Now all of a sudden Davos is hoping that Mel can be of some help? I get that his whole world has been turned upside down and it's a shit predicament that he and the other crows are in but come on.

Yes, in the episode Mockingbird where she bathes fully nude in front of Selyse.

Yeah, as posted below. The fanboys over on Reddit were attacking this point as a possible inconsistency, but it is only an inconsistency if you assume that it is solely the necklace that gives her the power to look damn_fine.

I'm glad that the ruling Prince Doran Martell was killed if only so I don't have to hear the name "Doran" spoken anymore because it sounds too much like the name "Dorne" (having two separate names that sound the same but are spelled differently works in novels, but can be confusing when only spoken out loud as on a tv show).

I don't understand how anyone could be disappointed in the premiere. It moved forward nearly every major plotline. Sigh.

Ratings really don't matter for GOT at this point.

Don't forget digital sales, plus I bet a ton of HBO/HBO Now subscriptions only last three months of the year.

No, there was disappointment earlier in the thread, but most people here liked it. Maybe you'd be let down if you were hoping for some huge character to get killed (which happened in the previous episode).

How is Davos ever going to find out that Shireen was burned unless Melisandre herself tells him? Everyone in Stannis' army is dead and I don't see Melisandre willingly telling Davos what really happened.

As far as Davos knows, Shireen was killed by Bolton soldiers.

I wonder if this was a late edit of some sort, like the writers decided that the dorne storyline is useless and they just thew up their hands and said 'everybody in dorne dies' and moved on.
All of the Dorne stuff seems like it was written and filmed by the B Team, the Junior Varsity. I know nothing of the books, and there has not been anything good in the Dorne storyline. The characters are silly, the writing is bad, the filming and acting too.

And Oberyn would've been just as good a character if we'd never known anything about where he came from other than what he talked about.

To me, they are pretty damn boring in the book too.

and the fight scenes were pretty terrible too. especially that one in the courtyard last season with jaime/bronn vs. the sand snakes. usually jaime/bronn look good fighting but that scene was fucking atrocious.

It's the writing that was disappointing, specifically the dialogue which was simply not up to par especially with regards to Tyrion who in the Premiere was reduced to a walking expository device. I can't remember the exact line but it was something like, "Well, it looks like we won't be going back to Westeros anytime soon!" As if D&D must think the viewers are stupid or something. We can see the shipyard destroyed and the boats being burned by the insurgents. We don't need the characters to spell out the obvious for us. "It's a good thing you're no longer a boy then since you have no cock" or words to that effect. Come on.
