Read that character's Wikipedia page if you want to know the answer. Though it's a thorny issue because there have been about ten different iterations of the character.

I just don't see the lawyers allowing Superboy. The character has been in legal limbo for many, many years and WB/DC Comics has basically put him on permanent moratorium in all mediums. Unless we are talking about one of the pretenders like Kon-El.

Isn't there a lawsuit going on about the rights to Smallville? If so there's no chance it would be Superboy.

That was a terrible episode.

Boring and cheezy.

That Speech that went on and on and on.....

The I know youre in there crap to break Sister out of her trance. Ugh.

People seeing the Logo on tv screens snaps everyone out of it. Ugh.

The Hulk Hogan eye laser fight. Only missing the t-shirt rip off. Ugh.

Terrible made even worse for a season finale.

I am unsure about that but it wouldn't shock me.

Superboy was in Young Justice or does the ban not apply to animation.

Why was Supergirl so dumb as to engage in hand to hand combat with an enemy in possession of Kryptonite weapons when she could use her eye beams instead?

She isn't going to eye blast her sister.

I answered my own question. Apparently the lawsuit was settled a few years back- that's why we've never seen Smallville show up on Netflix. No big loss.

Once Supergirl mentioned the key to the Fortress weighed a bazillion tons, I forsaw her lifting Fort Roz into space.

Don't get how Indigo can simply be torn in half when she usually de-rezzes into local computer networks ...

No local networks in the middle of the boonies.

I am talking about the young Clark Kent as Superboy version. That original version of the character was used for decades before changes to copyright law gave Siegel and Shuster a much more powerful copyright claim to the character than the actual Superman character. They weren't created at the same time.

When WB realized they may lose control of the original Superboy character, it threw him into permanent limbo. It's the primary reason why modern Superman never wore his costume as a boy, or went around as a teenage superhero.

The Superboy seen on Young Justice was Kon-El, a semi-clone made from Superman's DNA. It's an unrelated character that just happens to use the name.

Re: Supergirl (S1E20) -- Season Finale -- "Better Angels" -- 4/18/16

I watched 70% of season 1. The show has had some good moments, but it feels stuck in the 90s. For Flash, and seasons 1-2 of Arrow, having such cohesive storylines and season long arcs this show felt lost all season.

I think there is too much of a blend between her work friends and her Supergirl colleagues. Separation causes tension. The only element left there is Cat, and she likely knows the secret.

And the entire Jimmy relationship totally doesn't work. It's slightly better than Barry and Iris, but not enough to go there.

As for the finale itself - very rushed and weak. Didn't like Alex being totally fine to carry on a conversation with Kara after she was doubled over in pain while Myriad was still ongoing.

Plus the "cliffhanger" was worthless without seeing what or who was in the pod. If it was another young Kara or Clark then WTF. Otherwise, meh.

Re: Supergirl (S1E20) -- Season Finale -- "Better Angels" -- 4/18/16

I want to like this show...really I do, but the writing is awful.

Lord is searching for the signal, you have hours left, and you go to work as an assistant instead of, you know, helping him.

You need to save the Earth by getting the ship off the planet. It's a hundred million tons (whatever), so it's gonna be a struggle...and you have a minute left.

So you call your sister and have a heartfelt conversation while you stand around and do nothing.

Ugh.

What kills me is with a little intelligence you can turn cheesy crap into decent writing. But they never seem to bother.

And ugh, Laura Vandervoort is an awful actor. And it's not just because her lines were bad.

I still don't understand why they casted Vandervoort for Indigo and then slathered her up in complete make-up that covers up her only reason for being a network actress- her beauty.

The inconsistent writing is something you just have to roll with on Supergirl. This staff does seem to have great fun writing dialogue for Kara and Cat.

Re: Supergirl (S1E20) -- Season Finale -- "Better Angels" -- 4/18/16

I enjoy the show, but the writing and stupidity is holding it back. That aside, I think the other problem with the show is holding back. By that I mean, they want to keep it procedural and not go full nerd like the Flash. They're afraid to turn off the female viewers.

That and the one arc they did have with Non, Indigo and the Kryptonians was that it sucked.

I started watching Smallville (second time for me) with my daughters this week since the current crop of shows are ending. Despite the campiness with all the meteor freaks, it's amazing how fun it was and carried by the excellent casting.

Report: Supergirl may move to The CW.

CBS wants to bring it back, but the $3M per episode license fee is too expensive for them considering the ratings. They are still negotiating according to the story I posted.

Obviously moving it to The CW would entail some budget cuts.

Have Kara work in a hospital and it will have much better ratings.

If CBS can't afford the license fee I can't see the CW paying it, even after dumping some of the cast and effects. Melissa would probably have to take a pay cut too, and it's far from guaranteed she'll stay if they cut her salary. DC would be smarter to take $2M than stay obstinate and get nothing.

Supergirl, Flash, and Arrow are the only three DC properties that are currently showing a deal of love and respect for their characters, as well as generating some measure of excitement from their respective (and often overlapping) fanbases.

Stop being dicks, DC.

Well... I've been saying this was going to happen from the get go. This does need some money behind it, but it is much better suited for The CW. They could cut out some of the characters. Trim the fat.

Re: Supergirl (S1E20) -- Season Finale -- "Better Angels" -- 4/18/16

Finally caught up on the last couple episodes... season finale was kind of weak as far as the show down with Non. Apparently I completely missed the Indigo episode too, so I had no idea who she is.

That said, I really like the show, largely because of Benoist. I could do with less Jimmy and Wynn, but seems like that's the case with all of these shows. I hate the "teams" that they always have.

Re: Supergirl (S1E20) -- Season Finale -- "Better Angels" -- 4/18/16

$3M per episode is actually really expensive for a freshman show. I'm not surprised that CBS is being somewhat hesitant for that price tag.

The problem with moving it to the CW would be a lot of contract re-negotiations. All of the principal actors would have their CBS contracts torn up and would have to sign new deals for switching networks. Also, as I mentioned, the budget would need to be paired down. The show is shot at the Warner Brothers studios and it might be possible it would need to re-locate to Canada where Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow is filmed to save on labor and production costs.

How do Arrow and Flash stay on the air? They have to have a much lower budget than Supergirl and they do fine. Does Supergirl's show runner not know how to stretch a buck?
