Game of Silence (NBC) -- Series Thread

Four best friends have a dark secret they thought was buried 25 years ago, but they soon discover that you can't hide your past forever. From the executive producers of "CSI" and "Friday Night Lights" comes a gripping new drama about friendship, love, revenge and the moral dilemma of how far one will go in the pursuit of justice. Jackson Brooks (David Lyons, "Revolution") is a successful attorney who seems to have it all. He's engaged to a wonderful woman who happens to be his boss, Marina (Claire Van Der Boom, "Hawaii Five-O"), and he's on the fast track to becoming partner at his firm, but his world is turned upside down when his long-lost childhood friends unexpectedly reappear after 25 years. Jackson, Gil Harris (Michael Raymond James, "True Blood") and Shawn Cook (Larenz Tate, "Rush") always stuck together, like brothers. They spent their boyhood summers in the small town of Brennan, Texas, swimming in the quarry, shooting bottle rockets and doing everything they could to mine the fun out of small-town life. But their idyllic world turned chaotic one fateful summer afternoon when a well-intentioned and heroic attempt to save their friend Jessie (Bre Blair, "Last Vegas") from her alcoholic mother ultimately cost the 13-year-old boys nine months at Quitman Youth Detention Facility where their lives were changed forever. Now, 25 years later, the nightmare of the worst nine months of their lives has resurfaced, uprooting a mystery even deeper than their buried past. The brotherhood must now band together to right the wrongs of their shared past - a journey that will push the limits of their loyalty and ignite an unquenchable thirst for revenge.

This is based on a Turkish TV series.

from what I read, it's comparable to the movie "Sleepers"

Deadline's TV critic gave it a positive review

NBC must love David Lyons. This is the 3rd straight series they cast him as a lead.

This show seems like it will have too many characters and too many storylines that will eventually turn into a mess.

I found the boys prison scenes rather upsetting. I was also having a hard time mapping which kid was now which adult.

I'll check it out next week.

I was having a hard time placing the lead lawyer guy so I looked him up - he was the bad guy in Revolution.

More impressively, he was The Cape.

I was half watching / surfing DVDtalk. It was decent. Probably would have been much better if I gave it my full attention. My wife was glued to it.

I loved Sleepers (novel), so I may have to go back and rewatch it somehow.

My girlfriend sort of liked it, but the only thing that stood out for me was the inclusion of The Mighty Lemon Drops' "Inside Out."

I really liked it but wonder how it will work as a multi-season series. I guess the main theme of the show is that these four childhood pals will commit all sorts of unspeakable acts in their quest for revenge. I foresee lots of bodies piling up on this show.

Re: Game of Silence (NBC) -- Series Thread

Saw episodes 1 and 2 today. I actually quite liked it. Definitely has a Sleepers the series vibe.

The flashbacks to the boys in the Detention facility were tough to watch. Some pretty brutal scenes.

So from what I understand so far, everything went to hell when "Boots" lost it after seeing that guy who apparently raped/beat him in the detention center and then nearly killed him. And then Boots was killed as payback. Now Jackson and his friends are trying to find out who had him killed.

I'll also curious how this premise would work for multiple seasons.

I watched episodes 1 and 2 earlier tonight. I liked it and wondered the same thing about multiple seasons. I kind of wish this show was on cable or on streaming.
