The short previews playing during the original TWD look far better than the first 3 episodes. I thought the last 3 of last season were just fine. Whether I watch this long term will be based on how well they push the least interesting characters to the background in favor of the couple that are worth watching. They did the same with the original. Didn't take long for the boring ones to either get killed or barely exist in the background.

I will check out this season...but last season was terrible. They need to kill off the Nick character ASAP.

The first season was pretty bad, but I'll chalk that up to the directors/writers/actors getting a feel for everything and the fact that the season was was mostly set-up.

I'll commit to half of Season 2 before deciding if I'll bail for good or not.

I will watch. Had some decent parts last year. I think the change of scenery will help the show immensely.

big step up from all of last season..... still don't really care about any of the characters tho, and therein lies the problem.

Stupid, stupid girl, giving away their location to "Jack."

Also pretty stupid of Strand to not drill it into these dipshits heads that you can't trust anybody.

A boat full of twenty people calling out for help might as well be twenty people who are going to steal your boat and kill you. The guy on the other end of the radio with a sob story is more likely to be someone preying on your sympathies and trying to get you to reveal your location than he is to be on the level.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Monster" -- 4/10/16

So they jump into the water and don't see a boat and dead people floating around. A few minutes go by the ship isn't moving and they are swimming in the same area but somehow a wrecked ship pops up with a bunch of zombies around it. That didn't make any sense.

The thing I didn't like about the people in the raft was that no one asked why they shouldn't save them. If they had Strand could have said something like "We don't have enough food", "They might take over the ship" or some other reason.

All in all I thought this was a terrible episode.

The one thing I can't figure is why Strand decided to surround himself with the dumbest people west of the Rockies. Maybe the boat runs on angst.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Monster" -- 4/10/16

I think he just took them because they were the ones that were there. He must've decided he didn't want to be by himself.

Regarding the scuttled vessel, didn't they show a patch of fog, or something, that supposedly concealed it?

My problem with this show is that most of the characters are so unlikable, every time one of them is in peril, I'm ambivalent.

I could root for Strand and Kim Dickens' character, but only because I associate her with Joannie Stubbs.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Monster" -- 4/10/16

Strand seems to be the only one thinking with common sense and survival in mind. He's only been on the show a short time, but I think he's already my favorite character.

It would have been foolish to pick up those stranded survivors in the raft.

What an idiot Alicia is. I have no doubt the folks who shot up that yacht included "Jack" she didn't give away an exact location, but a close enough proximity.

I loved how Chris was acting like such a dipshit and basically forced Travis to carry his ex-wife's corpse in the middle of a zombie attack. Did Travis not explain to him that she asked him to pull the trigger because she was infected?

Shooting the show in Baja, California and in the water should improve things and make things different from season 1.

It has to be an in joke with the cast and crew at this point since he even goes swimming in his whole old man ensemble, complete with tan jacket. I'll keep watching the show right up until he gets new clothes then I'm out.

Other than Strand, and Salazar (who I'm ambivalent about), I hate the entire rest of the group. I don't mean I find them annoying - I actually hate them. It's like an entire group of Lori's - nothing but insufferable whining, selfishness, and criminally stupid decision-making.

Re: Fear the Walking Dead (S2E01) -- Season Premiere -- "Monster" -- 4/10/16

I'm still not feeling these characters, either. I actually wish they would kill off everyone but Strand and make the show about him as this not-so-nice-guy drifter willing to survive at all costs... he could occasionally get with different groups but then moves along whenever the shit hits the fan.

I think the west coast vibe is a nice change of pace from TWD, but I'm annoyed they're already abandoning LA as a setting with all the things they could have done with it. And the boat idea is cool, but the idea only works if you like the characters on the boat.

I also hope they don't try to introduce a Governor/Negan type 'big bad' too soon into this version. Right now the 'infected' should be the primary threat to everyone and nobody should be 'pros' at taking them out at this point in the outbreak.

Blah, I want more story about the bombing or about the helpless Coast Guard station. I guess the high school student with the knife is a crispy walker now.

Sounds good to me. There are a ton of scenarios preferable to following this group of fucktards around. It's like Kirkman needs annoying characters doing stupid shit to propel story.

I disliked the first season. I still came back for more and watched the season 2 opener. Very sorry I did. Even the Talking Dead that followed sort of sucked. I usually love the Talking Dead, this could taint it. And could the lead actor joke anymore about his chsracter still being alive?

For the record, I don't have any problem with Ofelia (Salazar's daughter). She just hasn't gotten much screen time since her mother died last season.

Colman Domingo was just on Lucifer 2 weeks ago. He played a priest of all characters.

I just want to know what the hell they are going to talk about for an hour on Talking Dead for this show?
