Episode 1 / Production #701 - "The Figgis Agency" (Airs March 31, 10:00 pm e/p) - Archer breaks into a mansion to restore the honor of a Hollywood starlet. Written by Adam Reed.
10 episode 7th season.

This was supposed to move to FXX, but it is staying on FX.

This season shifts to a private eye show.

Can't wait. Love the Magnum PI promos.

This review has me excited, since it mentions how it's a return to form after 2 weaker seasons.

So glad to have this show back, but I found the season premiere to be rather weak. Hopefully it's just to set up this season's private detective agency motif.

Yeah, first episode was just ok to me. Didn't like or really get the "payoff" at the end either. Falling off the cliff stuff was pretty good though.

Agreed, it wasn't the greatest episode.

Not sure what you didn't get about the end. They 'retrieved' the video for an impostor, who will no doubt try to blackmail the real Veronica Dean.

Not the greatest but rotfl at the Shapiro Shellfish comment.

I guess it was just so abrupt and obvious that I thought there had to be a better joke or more interesting plot device then that.

I think it's just that they were so arrogant about their work, yet so easily fooled in the most basic manner.

2nd episode was way better than the first.

This also popped up on youtube:

Just got around to watching this one.

Yes, this episode was much funnier!

Second episode was a big improvement, and I'm really glad this didn't turn into a season-long storyline.

No one's brought up Archer being dead in the pool at the start of the season??

^Weird... I thought it was already mentioned. Were there two threads?

Wonder if it's just going to take awhile to catch up to that opening scene.

Voicemail was great.

I'm not really feeling this season yet. I think they need to spread the characters out and mix things up a bit. Having them all working the same case, often sitting in the same room for much of the episode, makes the characters all seem a bit flat. Like they are all just sitting around, in the established roles, waiting to deliver their punchlines.

It's not as versatile as "phrasing!" But I love "Thanks for coming... On my tits! Whaaa!"

The idiots needs to have their own storyline, instead of being a greek chorus explaining plot points and talking about the main characters.

Dammit. So many reruns are on TV that I keep forgetting about the new episodes.

BuckNaked2k 05-17-16 11:46 PM

The end of Archer?

I just read this season got trimmed down to 10 episodes, so only three left. I wonder if this portends the end of the series?

FFS. Even 13 seems like too few episodes. Why would they cut it back to 10?

I'm pretty sure it's because it's getting harder and harder to write new episodes that feel fresh and not treading the same ground.

After a slow start, this season has been one of the best in a while.
