Anyone else strongly considering pulling the plug on this show after last week? I think that might've been the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I cannot summon any enthusiasm to tune in for this episode.

I'm not bailing on the show, but it basically runs as background noise for me.

It's definitely treading water. This season has mostly been blah. Bring back Roy already, or some Flash crossover episodes. Sick of this "villain" and Oliver/Felicity crap at this point.

Can Oliver go back to Laurel now?

If Oliver and Felicity are not endgame I don't know if i will continue with the show which is saying something because I really love the show. I hate artificially manufactured drama which is all their split up is. You can still have an extremely entertaining show with them being a happy couple. Their chemistry is off the charts and the best thing the show has going for it.

I thought we were done with this back and forth shit.

There a Comics fans who want to see "Green Arrow" with "Black Canary". I'm not that interested in this situation, but there are a lot of fans who feel Felicity is just a bump along the road to Black Canary.

I love Arrow still and will continue to support it, but I also think it's a potentially great show being hindered by silly manufactured drama. The Olllie/Felicity split was very frustrating and not necessary at all. I also hated how self righteous Felicity was acting towards him.

As for this episode, pretty by the numbers, bringing back Cupid and having her be the villain of the week.

Did Neal McDonough have any dialogue in this episode? What was the significance of the ring that he hid in this mouth?

I wonder if Captain Lance could be in the grave now.

I actually like Cupid as a villain, so this wasn't a terrible episode in my mind. The Oliver-Felicity drama is so artificial and forced that I can't even comprehend it.

It was nice being reminded that Laurel is an actual lawyer, though Lance throwing his career away in that manner seemed very rough.

I am usually a die-hard purist in matters like the shows and movies following comic book history, but this show has evolved so far away from the Green Arrow and Black Canary relationship that I don't mind if Oliver ends up with Felicity. Everything signaled so far indicates the producers have shelved Black Canary as his love since season one.

Cast/salary dump? Felicity leaving makes it look like they're writing her out too.

The relationship issues are far too forced. They make too big of a deal with people keep things to themsevles. And sometimes it may be just for a bit while they figure things out.

With all Lance has done, at least he hasn't murdered someone (like that cop on that other show).

So is Felicity done on the show?

PhantomStranger 03-24-16 11:56 PM

Re: Arrow (S4E16) - "Broken Hearts" - 3/23/16

Felicity at this point in the series is basically co-lead with Oliver. There is no way they would write her off the show.

Thea or one of the others? Sure, I could see that happening.

Emily Bett isn't leaving. Once she became a series regular midway through season 1, she would have to sign a 5-7 year talent contract. Stephen Amell is contracted for 7 seasons.

She's way too popular a character to write off at this point even though the writers have mishandled the whole "Olicity" thing badly.

Totally agree. And Oliver is behaving like such a doormat.

Gee, sorry I haven't easily shrugged off the 5 years in hell, losing almost my entire family and best friend, and being tortured, beaten and shot repeatedly, and not risking losing any chance to know my son by not telling you about it. What a selfish asshole I am.

Yes. But I'm holding out hope that the end of this round of flashbacks has a good payoff and the next round will be much better.

Enough wit the off again, on again stuff with Felicity. That's what is really killing the show since they have cut down on the Laurel Canary scenes.

Was the idol in the flashback the same one they destroyed a few episodes back to capture Dahrk?

This is my thought. I love Felicity but her behavior here just doesn't make sense.

Still really like the show, still watch it, still enjoy it... but this episode was just outright terrible.

The whole Oliver Felicity breakup just felt un-natural and was written horrendously. Couple that with these flashbacks, a bloated cast and some other very questionable story decisions and I'm left wondering whether I renew my season pass on this mofo.

DWilson 03-28-16 09:42 AM

Re: Arrow (S4E16) - "Broken Hearts" - 3/23/16

It feels as though they have certain "mile markers" to hit but they haven't worked it all out ahead, and some of it doesn't play "right". I'm surprised how many shows work like that (one prominent example was "24").

I agree that Felicity doesn't come off sympathetically at all. Of course, I wonder if this is like the "Space Boyfriend" thing on "SHIELD", where apparently it played well (or at least better) for Women, and turned off most of the Male viewers.
