I took it as that truck being particularly finicky, not that Daryl didn't know how to drive a stick.

I enjoyed the episode. Denise has always been annoying. I enjoyed her getting the arrow through the eye.

What the heck is up with Carol? Seems like she's lost her way or something.

I'm surprised Abraham didn't start calling Eugene "Pit Bull" during their little talk in the infirmary. I know that's my new nickname for him. :)

Denise has been growing on me, but more disconcerting for the impact on the community than any feeling about the character.

Am I the only one who thinks that Carol might be off to infiltrate Negan's group, trying to do something more pro-active? The impression I got is that she is sick of giving people the benefit of the doubt, only to regret it later. I think her goodbye note was less truth and more aimed at sparing feelings and preventing anyone from pursuing her.

While I full expect we'll be seeing carol again at some point before long, it would actually be kind of interesting if she was just gone. Everyone in this show dies, be kind of different if someone just walked off. Kind of like her kid, except we didn't really care about her.

Problem with that is they were going at a constant speed. There was no reason to be changing gears. Someone that rides a bike would understand that.

Same here. I can only see them having her story stay separate for so long. Her character is far too popular for them to dump her without a real farewell of some kind. Even death would at least be closure.

So sadly I think we're looking at a repeat of her saving the day at Terminus. She'll be back just in time to save somebody from being killed.

This. Makes Denise's inane rambling more applicable as well.

At the end when Carol left and I heard the creaking rope all I could think was "did Carol just hang herself?", then they showed the empty porch swing moving with no one in it.

As someone who drove a stick shift car for over a decade before getting an automatic for my next car, I can believe someone having trouble driving a stick shift if it's been a while since driving one. In my old car with stick shift, driving it was second nature for me. But after not driving a stick for years, when I borrowed a friend's truck that has one of those pain-in-the-ass "long throw" stick shifts (like the one in what Daryl was driving), it was a bit of a challenge getting the feel of driving stick again. (I didn't grind it, but the "feel" of driving that long-throw type of stick wasn't there for me.)

I think the title of this episode should've pulled a "Breaking Bad"-like approach and instead of being called "Twice as Far", the title should've been "Arrowhead"

I like that Denise continued talking for a second or so after taking the arrow through her head and that what she was saying turned into a babble of words. That was a nice touch.

But done much better on Hannibal.

I'm the opposite guy, getting a little bored/tired, got a text message on my phone I was reading when I heard but did not actually see the arrow. Doh. But I did rewind.

I don't watch it, but I'm sure that show has its own thread.

(Sorry, but I mean your comment means absolutely nothing to me.)

Makes sense.

But they could have avoided the debate entirely had they had Rosita driving with Daryl serving as sentry or something in the bed of the pickup. Even my 13-year old pointed out that a gearhead like Daryl would know how to operate a stick.

Enjoyed the ep. overall, but the amount of stupidity on display was more egregious than usual -- Denise wandering off TWICE, Rosita splitting from the group out of sheer stubbornness, Eugene being left alone at all, Carol going solo, Abraham choosing Sasha over Rosita (which I would actually get if they Rosita and Sasha weren't so one-dimensional and interchangeable), etc.

I get that characters like Denise have limited survival skills due to the relative safety of the village and walls, but these supposed survivors and veterans continue to make WTF decisions is glaringly lazy writing and pandering to plot and cheap thrills.

But loved the Denise scene (didn't see that coming at all), Eugene's dick-biting heroics, and the reappearance of Dwight (the actor really nails the character...appropriately grounded and menacing).

I was thinking the take away from this one would be to not take some of your most important characters out into harms way. I know they aren't as important in a direct way as say Rick or Daryl, but important outside of killing zombies or threats to the group, in that Denise is their doctor and Eugene will be manufacturing bullets. Doesn't seem like they came away with that though. Anyways, wasn't feeling this one very much, too much manufactured suspense for the first half.

The Carol story arc seems half baked as well. I enjoyed her transition last week, but this week seemed to abrupt. Also I can't quite imagine how she will need to kill less once she is outside the relative protection and safety of Alexandria.

I was of sort of the same opinion when the powers that be tried to convince us that Glenn was dead earlier this season. What if the group just never saw him again? Have they had that kind of non closure with any major characters before?

I don't see how they could manufacture bullets. Where would they get gunpowder?

I always assumed it was pretty easy to make:

Yeah, it's a mix of saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal. That shouldn't be too hard to make.

Being that it's set in the South, I find it hard to believe that they'd ever experience an ammo shortage.

Well there's nothing stopping those Southern gun-lovers from shooting at anyone or anything - so they're probably going through their ammo stock quite quickly. Kids in a candy store.

They're in Alexandria. It's a ten minute drive from being in House of Cards territory, but since its shot in random parts of Georgia, it obviously looks nothing like the real area. Having lived two minutes away for most of my life, it's certainly not gun central.

Plus residents of Northern Virginia are notorious for not not considering themselves part of "the South," but that's a whole other issue.

Did anyone notice poor lighting this week? Some of the scenes had actors dimly lit in front of distractingly bright backgrounds.

I really enjoyed that TV spot, and seeing a bit from you know who.

I see they are trying to get it taken down from the sites, like people haven't saved it and capped every second so far.
