None of them had good endings.
Shows have definitely had more bad endings than good.

I watched that live on TV as well. One of the most memorable moments of any live sporting event for me. I'm sure somewhere there's a gif that cuts together the Astros looking confident in the dugout getting ready to celebrate the series win beforehand and then Andy Petite's reaction from the dugout watching the ball soar out. So classic.

Re: TV moments that shocked you? (Spoilers, obviously)

I'm gonna go back to the 80s and 90s here:

Hill Street Blues

Spoiler:
When Captain Freedom was shot and killed. They really made it seem like his story arc was done, I don't even think he'd been on in a few episodes. Then he comes out of nowhere during a robbery and is killed by the gunmen

Growing Pains

Spoiler:
When Matthew Perry's character dies in the hospital after a car accident while drunk. It would have been one thing had he died immediately, but they really strung the viewers along by having Carol visit him in the hospital and he was doing fine. The family goes home, and Mike tells them he just got off the phone with the message that the guy had a sudden complication and died.

Party of Five

Spoiler:
This may seem like an odd choice, but when Kirsten dumped Charlie on their wedding day. The whole episode, Charlie was having cold feet, and became an excuse for typical wedding delay high jinx in a TV show (like Neve Campbell's character getting drunk and losing her virginity). Finally, at the end of the episode Charlie says he's ready, only to find Kirsten out of her wedding dress and in regular clothes, having packed her bags. At that show's height, I liked that they would go for the realistic result of peoples' actions and not necessarily the happy ending. Unfortunately, the writers decided to always go for the downbeat and depressing ending, and it just got too heavy the last couple of seasons.

"The Big High", a 1967 episode of Dragnet. A married couple loves to smoke pot and get high.

Spoiler:
During a pot party, they discover their daughter, Robin, missing from her playpen. They both forgot she was put in the bathtub, the water left running, and Robin drowned.

A 1970 TV Movie called Crowhaven Farm.

Spoiler:
Hope Lange is haunted by a coven of 17th century witches. In one scene she is laid on the ground, a huge wooden door is placed on top of her, and stones are placed on top of the door.

There are at least two from M*A*S*H.

"The obvious one" is

Spoiler:
"Abyssinia, Henry", where Colonel Blake goes home.

but also there is

Spoiler:
the last episode: "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen". Specifically, the incident with the chicken.
