WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24 ARROW "Taken" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV) VIXEN JOINS TEAM ARROW - Oliver (Stephen Amell) realizes he needs help battling Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) so he calls in an old friend - Vixen (guest star Megalyn E.K.). Using her magical ability to summon animal powers, Vixen gets a lock on Darhk's location and the team goes to war. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) has a heart-to-heart talk with Malcolm (John Barrowman). Gregory Smith directed the episode with story by Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Keto Shimizu & Brian Ford Sullivan (#415). Original airdate 2/24/16. Vixen is one of those characters that I just could never get behind. Almost as bad of a power as Aquaman.

The ending was absurd.
I've always thought Vixen was one of the coolest female superheroes. She has an interesting set of powers. Back in the 90s everyone wanted to cast Halle Berry as Vixen. All we need now are Gypsy and the Elongated Man to round up the Justice League of America's Detroit era team. |

All I know of Vixen is from the Justice League and I liked her in that. Also the Seed Short was ok.
The ending to this was horrible. They made Felicity seem like a self absorbed B. I wish they never got together in the first place. |

Love seeing a live-action VIXEN. Good effects with her powers.

Felicity shouldn't have been able to walk away. A few months of zero muscle activity and your muscles get weak from lack of tone. Even if the nerves fire it would take a rehab stint to get you walking again.

Really? Really? A chick suddenly flies away because she has a necklace that allows her to make a smoke looking eagle appear around her, some dude force chokes 3 people before his magical rock is broken and he loses said powers, And you're calling shenanigans on her being able to walk too soon after being given said ability back by some robotic spine chip?

BTW: Vixen has the same subset of powers as Animal Man and B'wana Beast. They all get their powers from the same source. |

How about that scene where Oliver brings Samantha to the lair, where she meets Oliver's ex-girlfriend Laurel ("Hi Laurel! Sorry Oliver cheated on you with me.") and his fiancee Felicity, who's pissed at him for not telling her about his son with Samantha. That wasn't awkward at all. :)

Yeah, her getting up to leave him was obviously coming, but still came off as bitchy as hell. Short of the speech from Malcolm (another otherwise cool character they have totally ruined) the rest of the episode was really solid. But I'm not looking for Vixen to come back. Actress did not pull it off well enough for me to want to see her again. |

Of course the show uses it so much because the set is cool and they need to justify its expense. |

Thought Vixen was great and the effects when her powers kick in was cool. Wouldn't mind seeing her guest appear again or show up on Legends of Tomorrow Season 2.

I get the feeling LOT is introducing a lot of characters for possible future seasons. I wouldn't expect a completely stable cast from season to season. |

I really dislike the direction this show has taken. Season 3 wasn't great, but I feel like Season 4 has gone almost completely off the rails. This Felicity show is the absolute worst. If things don't improve this season I'm pulling the plug. Too much good television and too little time.

As for the episode as a whole, words can't express how little I care about Oliver and Felicity being together. At this point I'd probably be more happy if they put him back with Laurel. Thought Vixen was kind of lame. |

At this point Berlanti likely doesn't have any real showrunning responsibilities for any of his shows except possibly his new ones. He's guiding and shaping these shows through their creation before letting the other producers handle the nitty gritty. I am sure he's still providing guidance on big decisions and things like casting, but I doubt he's managing their season-long narratives.
