Since he seemingly didn't take the Begley Jr. law firm job, when was/is he supposed to be working there? It appears that he's working at both firms simultaneously, which doesn't make sense. So I'm not sure or not whether they're jumping around timelines?
Jimmy initially declines the Davis & Main offer, does the little scam thing there with Kim, and then changes his mind and decides to accept the Davis & Main offer after all at the end of the first episode.

Jimmy is at HHM in the second episode as part of his work on the Sandpiper case as part of Davis & Main, he's not working for HHM there.

I have to say that the twist last year with Howard and Chuck was one of the best ones ever, and this episode just hammered home what a insidiously evil person Chuck is.

Yeah, he is really rotten. At first he just thought Jimmy wasn't smart enough to be a "real lawyer," and now he's actually angry that Jimmy is doing well as a lawyer. What a guy.
