Man, I'm loving the shit out of this show. It's the right balance of action and goofy shit. I'm loving the period stuff with the music, too.
Biggest glaring issue with the episode, though, is so Rip takes out Savage with the knife. Sure, he'll heal and come back to life. But why not take his body to the ship, let Hawkgirl murder him with the knife. Show over.

This episode was a lot of fun and much, much better than the first two episodes. There were a number of very funny lines.
"We case banks so much we're practically bankers."
This was the Sara we've been missing for nearly two years. If the show maintains this level of quality, it will be a big hit. The only hitch is that the worst actor is playing Rip Hunter. He's not been terribly impressive through the first three episodes.

Solid episode. Good balance of goofy and fun.
Snart and Rory were great. Too bad Snart couldn't change the fate of his scumbag father. that bankers line was hilarious.
I'm looking forward to seeing these characters in the 80's next week.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but they killed Savage in 1975? and he said he'd be back, and he was ... in 1986? That would make him 11yrs old and not a full grown ass man, no? He's reincarnated, he doesn't take over other people.

He's not re-born as a baby. He'll come back again as an adult in that time period.

No. He said he would heal. He never ages. He is that same age always. My guess is he just heals and becomes reborn.
They were going to the 80's because Gideon said there was information he was spotted in that era.

No, I get the whole '80s thing. I was just under the impression he reincarnated as in being born again, but I guess that's the other 2 and not him.

I hope they explain how Savage keeps coming back. If he is reborn like Prince kufu and Shiara do (we assume). If he just heals, they could obviously just drag him back to the ship, bind him, wait for him to heal, and have Kendra standing over him with her magic butterknife. Problem solved.
Or, since it's a time machine, take his 1975 body to the year 1 billion or so and leave him on the wasted husk of a dead earth.

Coming back? He told Rip he would just heal in this episode. Think Wolverine.
I was thinking more along the lines of taking him to Central City circa 2016 and putting him in a Star Labs holding cell. He could live the rest of his immortal life in there and the future would be changed.

Love this thread. It's why I hardly post in the comic book show threads.

Very fun episode, I'm really loving this show. I think this is one of those shows where you will have to let logic take a back seat sometimes, but I'm ok with that.

Vandal Savage doesn't reincarnate like the Hawks. He basically returns as a fully grown adult soon after his death with the same body. That is how he is immortal. Don't question it, this is comic book science.
This is why Vandal Savage's origin has nothing to do with the Hawks in the comics.

Internal consistency is what we're looking for, not logic or realism.

Even comic book logic gives a cockamamie, nonsensical explanation. The only thing we've been given in three episode of this show, an episode of the Flash and an episode of Arrow is that Savage is immortal and can be reconstituted from even a small sample of his remains. Well just take all remains and be done with him.

I actually didn't mind Rip in this one. Hopefully they keep him involved in action he continues to have less campy dialogue.
And yes, the Savage explanation are ridiculous. But really no worse than the Flash's gone again/back again powers and whatever they choose to focus on during Arrow.
