Galavant (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/3/16

SEASON PREMIERE

HUZZAH!!! THE MUSICAL COMEDY EXTRAVANGANZA "GALAVANT" RETURNS JANUARY 3 ON ABC WITH BACK-TO-BACK EPISODES

Kylie Minogue guest stars as The Queen, Hugh Bonneville returns as the Pirate King

Screenwriter/executive producer Dan Fogelman ("Crazy, Stupid, Love," "Tangled," "Cars") reunites with Broadway and Hollywood award-winning musical team - composer Alan Menken ("The Little Mermaid," "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast") and lyricist Glenn Slater ("The Little Mermaid," "Tangled") - for the return of last season's breakout musical comedy extravaganza, "Galavant." Having discovered the dark side of Madalena, our dashing hero's adventures continue as he embarks on an unlikely bromance with King Richard and fights to rekindle the romance with his true love, Isabella. "Galavant" will premiere on SUNDAY, JANUARY 3 (8:00-9:01 p.m. EST) with two 30-minute episodes, back-to-back, on the ABC Television Network. The ten-episode series will run each Sunday night for five-consecutive weeks.

"A New Season... aka Suck It Cancellation Bear" (8:00-8:30 p.m. EST) - Bad advice results in Galavant and the crew being shipwrecked, and they end up traveling by foot in order to get back to Richard's kingdom. Later, Galavant and King Richard find themselves at The Enchanted Forest Pub in West Hollow-wood where they are forced into working there by the owner who sees Galavant in a different light. Meanwhile in Valencia, Madalena rules as Queen, and Gareth demands his due when he is announced as King, with Sid as his assistant. Elsewhere in Hortensia, Isabella is imprisoned in her jewel box by her 12-year-old cousin as her parents prepare for their wedding.

"World's Best Kiss" (8:30-9:01 p.m. EST) - Galavant and Richard see a fortune teller who is able to connect Galavant to Isabella using a crystal ball. Isabella receives Galavant's "call" as she is plotting her escape from Hortensia. Unfortunately, it's a "bad connection," and Isabella hears only every other word. She is devastated by the call, but Galavant believes it went well. He promises to return to her as soon as he drops Richard off at his castle. The only problem is that Richard's castle seems to have disappeared.

"Galavant" stars Joshua Sasse as Galavant, Timothy Omundson as King Richard, Vinnie Jones as Gareth, Mallory Jansen as Madalena, Karen David as Isabella and Luke Youngblood as Sid.

"A New Season... aka Suck It Cancellation Bear" was written by Dan Fogelman and directed by John Fortenberry. Guest stars are Ben Presley as Jester, Darren Evans as Chef, Stanley Townsend as King of Valencia, Genevieve Allenbury as Queen of Valencia, John Stamos as Jean Hamm, Hugh Boneville as Pirate King, Sophie McShera as Gwynne, Simon Williams as Uncle Keith, Kemaal Deen-Ellis as Prince Harry, Daniel Hoffman-Gill as Pirate Jack, Kylie Minogue as The Queen, Adam Loxley as Pirate Sam, Jonny Emmett as Valencian Guard, Paul Casar as Enchanted Forest Bar Patron, Simon Meacock as Farmer Pete, Brendon Berg as Farmer, Ewen Macintosh as Bear and Martin Collins as Pirate Carl.

"World's Best Kiss" was written by Kat Likkel & John Hoberg and directed by John Fortenberry. Guest stars are Ben Presley as Jester, Darren Evans as Chef, Simon Callow as Edwin the Magnificent, Kemaal Deen-Ellis as Prince Harry, Sophie McShera as Gwynne and Andrew Buckley as Unicorn Owner.

Executive Producers are Dan Fogelman, Alan Menken, Glenn Slater, Chris Koch, Kat Likkel and John Hoberg serve as executive producers. Abbey C Studios Ltd. produces "Galavant" for ABC Studios.

This show has so many actual laugh out loud moments, it's a shame that it doesn't get decent ratigns. I loved how they referenced that in the first episode, between the title referring to TV By The Number's (who predicted the show would be cancelled last year) cancellation bear, to the references in the opening song of things on TV to ignore (football matches, globes of golden, apprentices, etc.) and the line about hell freezing if it gets good ratings.

I'm afraid that this will end up in the "Best Shows Nobody Watched" bin, along with Firefly. But it's certainly great fun while it lasts. Still, I could see it getting a second life on a Broadway stage - I would go to see it.

I think I'm enjoying the second season more than the first, if that's possible.

We are (as we dropped out mid season 1 ) as well. So far, IMHO, only one weak half hour of the bunch. The forest of coincidence was amusing.

The West Side Story homage, between the dwarfs and the giants had my sides aching, I was laughing so hard

Just caught up with this season before tonight's finale. What a completely wonderful, ridiculous show this is.

When you presume you make a pres out of you and me.

Fun season. Little hope of a third, but I had little hope of a second. Either way I hope they release this so I can revisit it at some point.

And the absolute last line of the season was priceless.

"I have a dragon."

Great seeing Weird Al and the Monks again!

I love this show. The ending was great. I hope it gets renewed again but I think, like this thread, there's just not many paying attention to it.

Best comedy I've seen in years. Keeping fingers crossed there is a season 3. If not, I sure hope they release the first two seasons onto bluray, so I can relive the laughs.

The cancellation was disappointing but not unexpected.

Wish this would have kept going. I don't care it wasn't making money or that people weren't watching it. This is all about ME!

Oh well

Re: Galavant (ABC) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/3/16

This was one of those shows that I was sort of blase about and would let sit on the dvr. Then I would watch the first episode of the season and binge the rest over the next few days. When they schedule a show like they did with this one (weird start time/multiple episodes a night) there is virtually no chance for the show to succeed. I was very surprised that it actuallt got a second season.

Just binged both seasons on Netflix and loved it to death! So clever... so many LOL moments.

I would hope they could bring it back at some point as an event series (or is that redundant?).

The first season was really billed as an event series. I think all the episodes aired over 4 weeks or something. Second season I don't remember them billing as an event, but the episodes aired over 5 weeks.

Just caught the second season on Netflix and then went back to start to rewatch the first. Just a fantastic show from start to finish. Although I never use the word, it was charming.
