What New Year’s Eve TV specials do you watch?

My Wife and I always watch New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. When I was younger, I used to watch MTV 's New Year's Eve show back when Carson Daily was the host. I'm not even sure they have one now. And of course, Dick Clark was always on as well.

I don't have shitty taste in music so I skip all of them.

I used to watch Dick Clark, but over time I've found more engaging pursuits on NYE than watching vapid hosts count down to midnight (which isn't even in the same timezone as I am, so it's even more pointless).

Nothing. We don't turn anything on until about 11:45pm. We wake up our oldest (4) and turn it to whatever station will have fireworks for her, then back to bed. I think we did ABC last year, but I couldn't even tell you. Whoever it was, boy, they sure like interviewing celebrities I've never heard of until the last second.

That's us. We don't watch until just a few minutes before midnight, The ball drops, we turn it off. Doesn't matter which channel because they all show the same ball.

None. Not since Dick Clark passed. Couldn't care less about it. Usually watch movies on X-mas Eve but now there's the CFP, so got that.

Local events that preempt the NYC/national programs on our ABC & NBC affiliates.

I don't pay much attention to it but usually have Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on in the background.

Ever since Dick Clark said goodbye, I've been watching Anderson Cooper on CNN - it's actually very entertaining and WAY better than Seacrest's show.

Re: What New Year’s Eve TV specials do you watch?

I DVR most of them and just skip through them to see if there's anything interesting. I'd say that the Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin one is the one that I really "watch" though.

That is what I do. The Carson Daly show from last year was not that bad with Terry Crews as one of the guests.

When was the last time CBS did a New Years Eve show? I wonder why they have not joined the party and do their own show?

Isn't it time to remove Dick Clarks name from the ABC show?

You don't hear Johnny Carson's Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

I believe Dick Clark's estate/company actually owns the show, which is why his name is still on it.

These shows were mildly interesting before I hit puberty.

They should just give up the name and they can use their company logo in the closing credits.

I know nobody likes Seacrest but it has been several years where he has hosted and just give him the title of the show to himself or just remove his and Clarks name and just call it ABC's Rockin New Years Eve since they have multiple hosts.

Re: What New Year’s Eve TV specials do you watch?

Dick Clark's show and the MTV thing (in the 80s, maybe some 90s) were the only ones I've ever watched or recorded (to check out the music later). In general, I haven't been around to watch TV (some event or get-togethers with friends) or have been sleeping.

Yikes, I remember this.

Usually Dick Clark, but last year it was nice, we watched some music choice stations until the ball was dropping.

Way to make me feel old damn you. I would have turned 20 in 1979 and my wife was graduating high school that year. I do remember those haircuts. I had the great big Elvis sideburns back then

None since Guy Lombardo passed away and HBO stopped airing their comedian shows...

Now I just tune into the Twilight Zone marathon.

Re: What New Year’s Eve TV specials do you watch?

Growing up we watched Dick Clark. I don't mind Seacrest in the past several years. I have spent NYE for the past few years at my cousin's house. The TV is background noise while we play cards and board games. I've seen clips of the CNN's with Anderson and Kathy. I like that she purposely annoys him.
