Finally watched the finale, I thought it was satisfactory, not special. Overall, fabulous season, I loved season 1 and season 2 was even better.

Re: Fargo (S2E10) - Season Finale - "Palindrome" - 12/14/15
Recently finished watching Fargo S2. Excellent season - I found it far superior to S1, and I liked S1.
This will be a review of the entire season, not just the finale:
The late '70's time-period was meticulously re-created; right down to the fashion, minimal technology (no cell phones, primitive computers, etc.), CRT TV's, attitudes, etc.
It was surprising to see Kirsen Dunst & Ted Danson in a TV series like this; they're both big names; I'm not even sure Dunst has ever done TV before. In any case, they disappeared into their roles so well that I wasn't sure it was them at first. Great acting here.
IIRC, back in the 200X's there was a true crime case where a woman accidentally hit some guy with her car & he ended up on her windshield, and she drove home with him that way. Instead of getting help, she panicked & kept him in her garage until he died. Very bizarre case...I'm guessing that's where they got this plot-point from...
At first, the hoarder-like basement of the couple w/the stacks of magazines/newspaper was appalling; I really hate it when people pile up junk like that. However, though a real hazard in many cases, in the context of the story here this actually proved to be beneficial for the Dunst character when hiding from & retaliating against the criminals who were after her. That being said, I have heard of cases where hoarders have actually suffocated after their immense piles of crap falls on them & they're not discovered until it's too late -IIRC, there was a case where this actually happened to a couple of hoarders in NYC....
I enjoyed Mike Milligan's quoting the fantasy/nonsense poem Jabberwocky; great poem...
Being a huge fan of the Coen Brothers films, I enjoyed the homage(s) to their movies - a song from The Big Lebowski was played twice during the season ("Just walked in, to see what condition my condition was in..."), as well as the song "O Death" from O Brother, where art thou?
The UFO sequence was the only thing that I felt was out of place in the series; distracting & somewhat ridiculous. That being said, there were apparently a lot of "actual" UFO sightings in the 1970's, so I guess this kind of fit...

Texas Woman Charged With Allowing Hit-and-Run Victim to Die in Broken Windshield
A nurse's aide hit a homeless man with her car, drove home with him stuck headfirst in her broken windshield and ignored his cries for help as he bled to death in her garage over the next two or three days, police say.
Chante Mallard allegedly told police she periodically went into the garage, apologizing to him but doing nothing to help.

True Story from Fargo, Season 2: The woman who hit a man and left him in her windshield to die
She was high on marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol, and went inside to have sex with her boyfriend while she waited for the guy to die. She wasn't actually connected to the crime until months later when she started bragging and laughing about "hitting this white man" to a friend at a party. In 2003 she was sentenced to 50 years and will be eligible for parole in 2027.

Oh yeah - forgot about that. It's been years - as a kid, she was on ER in the '90's.

Glad to see that the Critic's Choice Awards last night did a much better job picking winners than the Globes did last week.
Fargo won for Best Movie made for Television or Limited series, Best Actress in a Movie made for Television or Limited series (Kristen Dunst), Best Supporting Actor in a Movie made for Television or Limited series (Jesse Plemons, winning over Bokeem Woodbine) and Best Supporting Actress in a Movie made for Television or Limited series (Jean Smart). Only Woodbine and Patric Wilson (who lost to Idris Elba for "Luther") were nominated but did not win.

It happened October 26, 2001
Here's a link making the same connection to Fargo:

Nice touch showing Lou with the limp at the graduation flash forward.
Though I don't think we saw how he got it? Thought maybe Peggy was going to stab him when he had her in the hold outside the freezer and she was still holding the knife.

He mentioned he got shot in Season 1 (when visiting his daughter in the hospital when she got shot), but it apparently took place after 1979.

He mentioned his sciatic nerve pain in one of the episodes.
I was under the impression it was that.

In season one Lou said he took a bullet during a traffic stop. It apparently wasn't an event related to season 2.

I just binged through this season. I loved it. I may give season one a leg up over it but only because of Billy Bob Thorton. It's a very slight edge though, both seasons were top notch TV.
The hotel shootout scene was amazing. I can't believe they had the balls to have a UFO show up. It's even crazier that it worked.
Mike may have been my favorite character this season but it's hard to choose between him and Hanzee. I loved the weirdness with the way things ended for Mike. I for sure thought they were going to kill him but instead he got an office job as if drug dealers have office jobs.
I'm happy they didn't throw any grief porn our way by not killing off too many of the well liked good guys.
Kirsten Dunst was fantastic in this.

Looks like the Coen bros are sort of indifferent to the show: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/415...rom-fx-s-fargo
FX's "Fargo" has been met with acclaim across the board. The series adaptation of Joel and Ethan Coen's 1996 film has been spearheaded by showrunner Noah Hawley and both seasons so far have served as great big love letters to the works of the Coen Brothers.
While the Coens have executive producer credits on the series, in a new interview with Radio Times they have revealed they have little involvement in the show and are actually quite indifferent towards it. Joel Coen says: "We're just not very interested. I mean, we're perfectly happy with it. We have no problem with it. It just feels divorced from our film somehow."
The pair are also not big fans of the idea of moving into the TV arena like so many other major filmmakers have done in recent years: "We work short. Our longest movie ['No Country for Old Men'] is two hours two minutes. It's just not how we think about stories. I mean, after two hours with a character, we feel we're pretty much done with them."
FX's "Fargo" is set to return for a third season in 2017.

Coen's are one of the few (only?) filmmakers who have a "director's cut" that's actually shorter than the theatrical cut.

Just finished Season 2. Enjoyed Season 1 a hell of a lot more (stories, characters and performances). The UFO thing really took me out of the story.

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons are reportedly engaged. I would never have imagined that.
